That all depends on what you are looking for. I could tell you what I think are "good bits", but you may not think the same.

While it's true that the Bible is thick, and the print small, you need to start reading it for yourself.

The Bible is not just one book, it is 66 books, divided into 2 major sections -- the Old Testament and the New Testament.

The Old Testament has many stories that you may enjoy. In Genesis we read about Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses.

In the New Testament you can read about the birth of Jesus, His ministry, and crucifixion. You can also read about the Apostles, and the journeys of Paul.

You don't have to read cover to cover, just pick up the Bible and read where it falls open. You might be surprised what you read.

Thomas Jefferson made his own Bible. He took the Bible and cut out all the baloney (mostly the supernatural BS). Read that if you can find it if you want a more pleasant and sensible book.

If you consider good bits to be the crazy supernatural stuff or the parts with all the battles, then you are going to have to find a different "Cliff Notes" version of the Bible. Search around on the web, maybe they have products like "The Bible: Most Kickass Battles Edition" or "The Bible: Whoa Crazy Magic S##t Edition"

Hey! I would suggest the book of John, especially John 3:16. 1 Corinthians 13 is great. I love James too. You probably want to start with the New Testament first, but there's so much in the Old Testament too. I hope you find what you're looking for!

Due to the fact that these
Christians use the Protestant Old Testament which is lacking 7 entire books 2 (Tobias, Judith, Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus/Sirach, Baruch, I Maccabees, and II Maccabees), 3 chapters of Daniel and 6 chapters of Esther may be one of the reasons they ask catholics so many questions.

For the Sola Scriptura this is too bad .
In the 16th c., Luther removed those books from the canon that lent support to orthodox doctrine, relegating them to an appendix. Removed in this way were books that supported such things as:

prayers for the dead (Tobit 12:12; 2 Maccabees 12:39-45),

Purgatory (Wisdom 3:1-7),

intercession of dead saints (2 Maccabees 15:14),

and intercession of angels as intermediaries (Tobit 12:12-15).

The lesson, though, is this: relying on the "Bible alone" is a bad idea; we are not to rely solely on Sacred Scripture to understand Christ's message. While Scripture is "given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16-17), it is not sufficient for reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness. It is the Church that is the "pillar and ground of Truth" (1 Timothy 3:15)! Jesus did not come to write a book; He came to redeem us, and He founded a Sacramental Church through His apostles to show us the way. It is to them, to the Church Fathers, to the Sacred Deposit of Faith, to the living Church that is guided by the Holy Spirit, and to Scripture that we must prayerfully look.

Death? Destruction? Natural disasters? Incest? Underage marriage? The strange things royalty do? Fantastic beasts? Legends? Words to live by? Words to die by? Mathematical formulas? Physics equations? Geology and planetology lessons? Genetic engineering examples? Earth sciences? Astrology? Witchcraft? Magic? Demons? Devils? Satan? God? Aliens? Spacecraft? Robots? Prophecies? Dragons? Giants? Roman Gods? Greek Gods? Cyclops? Mermaids? Things from Cthulu? The origins of Dracula? Jesus? Heaven? Hell? Things to eat? Miracles? Ways of living?

These and many many more are all in there. I dont think there is even a sci-fi novel series that has this much in it.

Get yourself a New Living translation of the Holy Bible it is written in plain modern English, also get it in large print.

I suggest that you read the whole Bible. If you aren't then how can you claim to believe what is contained in it?
