You are so lucky you have survived melanoma. You must have caught it early.
Go see your dermatologist regularly and insist if it looks suspicious it be removed. Make sure you have all the moles and lesions on your back, feet, neck, between your legs etc. checked out. Even examine under your nailbeds and your scalp. Always report anything suspicious.
Always use a sunblock and stay in the shade.
The dermatologist I work with said he used to see melanoma every once in awhile and now he sees them every week. It is becoming way prevalent. Most people do not realize it can be life threatening.
Congratulations. Here is a big hug to you and I am so happy for you!!!!! Your so lucky.

I've also had malignant melanoma. We are at increased risk of another skin cancer so it is important that you continue to do the same thing: stay out of the sun, have regular checkups, check yourself on a regular basis. As long as you're diligent in watching your skin and having anything suspicious removed, you will be fine.

Melanoma is the worst skin cancer to have b/c it can spread to your organs and it can be a very fast growing cancer. Just keep doing what you're doing.

Once you have had one skin cancer then your chances of having a second skin cancer are increased. This does not mean another melanoma - just a generally higher chance of having a second skin cancer of any type.
If you continue doing all the right things - staying out of the sun, using sunscreen, wearing a wide brimmed hat and seeing the dermatologist regularly - then you should have no further problems and skin cancer should not be a big worry for you.

I had a skin cancer removed over eleven years ago, no problems since. Be sensible. Stay out of the sun, or put on a good sun lotion with high SPF. Wear wide brim hat. Enjoy your life. Do not dwell on cancer.

Just always where sunscreen. More than 80% of skin cancers are caused from uv exposure.

Skin cancers have a great success rate.

Just keep getting checked and where sunscreen. A high SPF!!

I am with you on the skin cancer. I found a fabulous cream Vita-K which I use on my face, neck and back of hands at night. It really helps with the healing of sun damage. Not to replace regular visits to your doc though. My surgeon told me that mine was probably from my youth (avid swimmer before sunscreen was really used much). So, I do everything I can to avoid too much exposure now.
