I had Purchased Sun Conure at my Local pet dealer and i wanted to know if it is an Boy or an girl? The Pet dealer doesent know also. How can i figure it out. Please Help

I have a sun conure and the only way to find out the sex is wait until they are around a year old and have them "sexed" by a Aviary vet. I wanted to know the sex of mine so I wasn't calling my boy bird, lucy or something. If anyone tells you there is another way that is quite false.

Sun Conures are very hard to sex...their is NO physical way to tell them apart...You will have to have it sexed by a Vet who specializes in this...You need a Avian vet.
that is the only way...

The only reliable way to tell the gender of a bird is to have an avian vet perform a blood test.

well for one, depending on how old it is, if its very young, youll have to wait till its a year or so old, or go in to the vet and have it sexed. You should take the bird in anyhow just to make sure its fine in general overall health. Pet stores arent the best for getting birds like this.

Go to healthgene.com and request a dna kit. Clip a nail, get a couple of drops of blood and send it in. They can tell you what sex it is. Cost 19.00. I have used them lots and have never had one wrong yet. Probably cheaper than going to a vet. Hope this helps!
