My parents chose to raise me as a female...and had my sex assigned to me with the appropriate operation, which removed my male genitalia.

As an adult, I am attracted to females...I feel that I am a man, and my parents made a mistake in assigning my sexuality.

What should I do? I have a girlfriend and we live as lesbians...am I committing homosexual sin for which there is no pardon?

The above is a question asked by another person a few months ago....what is your response?

Hi there. Excellent question and real good one to get us all to think.

First off, let me just say that there is no such thing as "homosexual" sin. What I mean by that is sin is sin is sin. It doesn't matter if one is homosexual or heterosexual. Sin is the same.

Secondly, let's define our terms a little bit better. In speaking of homosexuality, one must distinguish between the person who experiences same sex attraction and the sexual act performed on the same sex.

Same sex attraction is not a sin. Having same sex attraction is not a sin. Being a person with same sex attraction is not a sin.

Sin has to do with one's moral choice, therefore, since it is clear most people do not choice to be attracted to the same sex, no one can assign moral culpability to the tendency itself.

When speaking about sexual intercourse (please understand I am speaking from a Catholic point of view), there are two goods which must be respected or the person "misses the mark" - "sins" (the greek word for sin is "amartia" which means "off the mark" or "not on course"). The first is the unitive good, which consists in the union of the spouses... of a man and woman who are naturally complementary. The second is the procreative good, which means that the spouses are to have an open attitude toward the bearing of children. Also, as sexual intercourse should be about giving one's self to another, the proper place for this is in marriage, where one gives one's self to another completely, bodily, spiritually and emotionally in a bond and commitment for as long as both shall live.

So, now to the question, would a hermaphrodite "female" be sinning by engaging in sexual intercourse with a female?

Yes. Objectively, this would miss the mark. The context would not be the complete giving of one's self in a proper unitive act that is procreative in a marital union.

Subjectively, no one can say how guilty this particular person is in the eyes of God.

On a side note, the person asked if they were commiting homosexual sin for which there is no pardon. Actually that's not correct. There is plenty of mercy and grace and forgiveness available to all sinners so long as one does not reject God. There is pardon for sins. And I would certainly entrust this person to God's abundant mercy while also inviting that person to consider refraining from that sin.

Who knows, if the person is genetically male, there might be legitament reason to condone an operation to regain the genitalia proper to the gender. But that is beyond my scope.

Hermaphroditism doesn't naturally exist in humans, and the only people who have both sex organs are people who have had some degree of hormonal and/or surgical intervention to look that way. It's not possible to be born with both because male and female genitals use the same tissue, they just form differently. Intersexed people are born with genitals that are not hermaphroditic but do not fit the normal male or female anatomy. Usually they are inbetween in some way. Most intersexed people are assigned a gender as infants, usually based on which surgery would be the easiest and give the best results (this almost always entails intersexed people being raised as girls). Some intersexed people later come to realise that the sex assigned to them as an infant was wrong, and then they may have treatment to reverse it. Usually, people already know what gender they are even if their body doesn't match.

No..

When a hermaphrodite is born parents are often pressured to make a choice and assign gender.. parents have a 50/50 chance of getting the gender correct.. Most opt for female as the gender assignment surgeries are more refined and the aesthetic look at the end is much more authentic looking than that performed to make the look male...

I believe it is a disservice to both the parents and the child for Dr's to pressure a choice instead of letting nature take it's course and letting the child decide when he/she is older and able to make an informed decision..

As for homosexuality I believe it is completely natural, some people are born heterosexual, some homosexual and some bisexual it is society (more specifically religious sects) that place a stigma on sexuality..

Homosexuality is not a sin. End of story. A book written by men with an agenda to control the masses cannot tell you in any way what is right and wrong. People are attracted to whoever they are attracted to.. you can't help it.

No, you aren't committing homosexual sin.

It really doesn't matter now if you were born a heraphrodite, if you choose females, choose females.

With love, where is the sin?

Homosexuality is not a sin. If they say you are commiting one, then how could their God punish you for being born with both sex organs?

Blessed be.

Well considering religion is mostly a bunch of horse crap people believe in that stiffle ones emotions and desires. You want to do something? Then do it, don't be tied down to some blind power that only excels at downtrodding the different and non believers. Life's too short to not follow your heart, love is love no matter the gender hun. Best of luck

1. It is NOT a sin
2. Its not your fault
3. You have to do what you want to make your life happy.
4. Don't focus on that, as long as you are a good person with good character, you are fine.
People are going to tell you its sin etc, they are ignorant and wrong. God loves all of his children.
