They'll all become finger tame and affectionate, but a parrotlet will talk more, if that's important to you.

Yep! It takes a little work taming a budgie. They're also not cuddlers like cockatiels or many conures are. The taming method I heard that worked for many people was to read a book in the tub (no water ^.^) and close the shower curtain. Then let the budgie out. Over a few days you start moving your hand closer and closer to the bird. Eventually the bird learns that humans aren't scary :-) . My lone budgie, Buzzsaw, isn't much of a talkier but OY does she mimic! She sounds like a miniature cockatiel and has been caught mimicking the conures a few times. One of the funniest talking budgie stories I've heard was about a grandmother who was dating someone and didn't want people to know. Eventually her budgie picked up 'Kiss me quick behind the door!'. One of the worlds' best talking birds was a budgie who know 500 or so words.

Any of these can be very hand tame and affectionate if they are hand raised. My personal choice would be 1st. the Cockatiel they are a sturdier bird and they love to mimic sounds, I had one who knew the whole Andy Griffith theme!, then 2nd would be the Budgie, they are smarter than people think I had a female that could talk and she loved my husband!, and 3rd would be the Parrotlet my aunt had these for breeding and they are actually known as mini Parrots they have the same characteristics but tend to be fragile.

A budgie by nature likes to be around other budgies. They like to be left alone.
A parrotlet is a little high tempered especially if strangers are around.
A cockatiel is ABSOLUTELY the one that will be fun to be with. The one draw back with any bird is that they tend to be more attached to one person. Cockatiels will talk and sing and are very entertaining. Once you start showing them attention it is VERY important you don't change that routine. Birds WILL get depressed if they are used to you paying attention to them and then you stop for whatever reason. They will even start removing their own feathers. It is very sad to see this happen to any animal. SO make sure whatever bird you get that you will devote time with them. If for some reason you cannot spend as much time with them get them a mate. the warning with that is if you get a cockatiel a mate, no MATTER how much they love you, you will not be as important to them.

any bird that is hand feed from birth is easly handled because they r use to it but if u get on etht is older i would say the parolett cand the cockatiel , but u have to do it several times a day at the same time every day and start gradully intime the pet will climb onto your finger when u put it in te cage etc , but its best not to have other distractions around u well trining this to be done take birfd in a quiet room and lik e i sadi train daily at the same time every day

Depends on the INDIVIDUAL bird! Go to breeders and find one that is already tame that you like that also likes you. That is the ONLY way you can guarentee that you will have a bird that likes human affection.

ALL birds are different! Will you like the bird less if it decides it is more of a hands off bird?

I think you need to do more research on birds. What they need to stay healthy, toy costs, vet costs, cage costs, etc.

any of the 3 are good choices, especially if they are hand fed and young...from the least expensive to the most expensive.
1. Budgie
2. Cocktail
3. Parrotlet
and get it from a breeder, the ones in the stores are way too expensive...plus you don't know about their age, etc...a breeder is really best...good luck.

get a cockatiel. the others do not ever become tame. they are only birds for decoration. cockatiels usually always bite though. If u r getting a bird get an african grey or macaw as they are the nicest

Each one has the potential to become a sweet and loving baby, from expierience, hand feeding and raising one can be messy and a big job, try to find someone in your area that hand raises, your better off with a hand raised sweety.
