Yes. You need to give your muscles rest so they can improve. When you lift weights, you're actually breaking the muscle down. When you rest it after that is when it grows and strengthens.

If you work the same muscle every day, you'll be doing worse than if you didn't workout at all.

Rotating your upper body and lower body every other day is what builds bulk. Working the same muscle group everyday just keeps it in a rut. You're not allowing it to absorb the impact of the workout and allowing your self to increase the weight to build more muscle.

People say not to work out everyday because when you work out you are literally ripping muscle apart, and you have to give it time to heal. Then again, I have a friend who bench presses everyday with amazing results. Try what you wish I guess, although I'd suggest coming up with a routine like this:
Monday:
Biceps
Tuesday:
Triceps / Forearms
Wednesday:
Chest
Thursday:
Legs
Friday:
Back / Other
Saturday & Sunday:
Rest

Take care.

well, every day seems a bit of a risk; you are supposed to rest, at least every two days, also, depending on the motion, you could develop an injury, or even what they call 'tennis elbow' from lifting in the same way every day.
