I have seen many supposedly religious people telling atheists, pagans and others that they don't belong here because this is RELIGION&spirituality. There is a reason that both words are used: one does not automatically imply the other.

It also DOESN'T say "Religious and Spiritual". ANYONE of ANY belief can discuss the TOPICS of Religion and Spirituality. Besides, Atheists, Pagans, and others are some of the MOST spiritual people on the planet.

Many times in history, people have tried to suppress the views of others because it threatened their own views.

I think that this would be an example of that. I think that by trying to say that non-religious people do not belong in the R&S section then the religious people are hoping to keep the non-religious or religious-critical views from being posted.

I don't think that at any point any person should override anyone's spiritual opinion in this forum. Its a forum to discuss issues of spirituality, even if you take issue with spirituality.

At the point they believe they are the only one's with the right answer. Once they believe that, they start being all holy on everyone else and just make everyone in their chosen faith look bad.

It would be better for Christians, specifically, to speak out against those who pervert your faith to fulfill their own need for attention and controversy. Take Fred Phelps for example. This person goes from place to place speaking about the "evil of homosexuality." He has protested at graveside of our brave soldiers saying vile things. Why would any thinking Christian even tolerate this hate filled "pastor?"

Christians on this board want to be respected for their faith as much as I do for my Wiccan faith and as much as an athiest wants to be for his or her choice of no faith.

After being on here for awhile, I think it is time for Christians to start speaking up more when you see someone using their Christian faith to be downright evil to non-Christians. There are many sincere, kind, compassionate people on this board - people of all faiths and non-faiths. Until Christians start standing up to Christians, tho, those among them who are a total embarassment to that faith are going to continue to be offensive and use their faith as a weapon.

I guess I got off on a rant......
