have to worry. She is ready to die but keeps hanging on because she thinks when she dies, she's going to be "lost" since she's not sealed to her parents or her husband. All of them have already passed away, and have had their temple work done. She wasn't active in church in her later life, and now that she's dying and can't get to church or the Temple, she's afraid to die.
I'm not Mormon, I'm just taking care of her in her house. Are there any church articles that talk about this or can help reassure someone that the temple work will be done for her after she dies?

Thanks for all the suggestions about calling the bishop. She lives in a town of less than 1,000 and only two wards, so they are very familiar that she is sick. They have been contacted but do not visit and do not bring the sacrament. They also have not offered a blessing. I should also state that my grandma thinks I am a temple worthy Mormon (I served a mission, but I left the church years ago) and have already told her that I would make sure the temple work is done for her, but she won't accept it. So, since I can't get any help from the local ward, I was hoping I could find an article to have her read, or some words of comfort from a church publication. Since I'm not a member of the church any longer, I'm not familiar with the publications.

You need to find a family member, close friend or ward member who is active and holds a temple recommend come and promise her that they will take care of this work for her. You can assure her of this all you want, but is nothing that you can do about. She may not accept your assurance, since you have no power to make sure this is done for her, a family member with a current temple recommend can make good on that promise. If everyone else's work has been done, then there must be someone in your family who has done it. Ask them to come and talk to her about it.
She is lucky to have you since you seem to care so much.

Along with your other two great answers, I agree with both of them. Have a family member who has done other temple work as well as her local Bishop talk to her and assure her that they will get her work done for her. Have them give her a blessing of comfort and assurance and then confirm to her that is okay to let go; that she can go home now without worrying about it. My bet is the blessing will do her more good than the talking.

I don't think someone can hold on past God's time for a person to leave, i wanted to leave the earth a long time ago, and I almost died three times, but God stopped that from happening three times (i was suicidal then, so I was mad that i survived) so I realized that when its my time to go, I will go, I do not think your grandma can hold on past God's will for her life, if its time for her to go, she will go, no matter how long she trys to hold on.
Unforetunely I was a mormon and I do not believe that temple work will get her to heaven, that she must be saved, but you may not be able to convince her of this, so you will have to do what the other mormons tell you to do, in order to give her comfort before she goes.
I would ask her about her about what she knows about the geneology of her relaltives and do a tree for her and then submit it to her bishop, the bishop should be able to submit it to the temple were they will have someone babtize and do the temple marriages for the dead there. P.S. I use to collect the names when I was a mormon.

Call the closest ward and talk to the bishop. You can also try to contact the missionaries.
Go to www.mormon.org or www.lds.ord and there you will find the closest ward to your area and the phone numbers. You can also request visits from the missionaries. call this number: 1-800-720-9400 that is the phone number in the pass along cards that we have and give to people. You can call there and request some information.
Good Luck and tell the lady that she will be fine ^_^

Call your local ward or branch Bishop ask him to come talk with your grandmother he can even arrange to have the sacrement each sunday brought to her home blessed there and given to her.. My brother and another man/late teenaged boy often delivered the sacrement to people unable to get to church due to health issues..
The Bishop can also talk with your grandmother and reassure her regarding her temple work etc.
All you need to do is look in your local phone book and make the call (If you are in a large community with multiple wards etc. just choose one at random and whoever you reach will have a directory with all the local numbers and be able to direct you to exactly who you need to speak with if it's not them)..
When you and she talk to the Bishop ask him how to go about getting her name submitted so the work can be done, it will likely put her mind at ease knowing she has submitted her name and knows it's there and the work will be done..

The best thing you can do for your grandma is to get a pastor in from a Bible teaching church to show her that she does not need man made rituals to get eternal life with God!
It is so sad that the church bishops don't care about her situation. Are they too busy pursuing wealth in the secular world to look in on the needs of their flock?
How very sad that a dying woman cannot have the peace of God! It would be so much better if she had the assurance of Eternal Life found in the Bible.
Please go over these verses with your beloved Grandma so she can have the peace of knowing she can be with God forever!
1st Know that God loves you.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
2nd Know that God wants you to know that you can have eternal life
1Jo 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
3rd Know that you are a sinner
Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
4th Know that sin must be paid for. There is a penalty for sin.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
You will face a judgment when you die. Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
If you do not get saved, you will be forever separated from God and you will pay for your sins forever in the lake of fire.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
5th Know that you cannot save yourself.
Rom 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Isa 64:6 But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
6th Know that Jesus paid for your sin on the cross
Tit 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
1Pe 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God
Rom 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
2Co 5:21 For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
7th Repent of your sins. Repent means to Change your mind.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
And call upon Him to save you.
Act 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out
Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Joh 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Right now pray to God, tell Him that you are a sinner, admit to Him that you cannot save yourself, and ask Him to save you. And you have His promise that He will.
