I agree that it happens a lot, but it is not certain that your cat will outgrow it if your dog continues to put up with it. I have seen this go on for years.

Your kitten is still very young, so you should let him be right now. If he hasn't stopped by the time he is 3 or 4 months old, you might want to keep the two apart for a week or so, to break the habit.

All the best with your new kitten!

Yes your kitten should still be with her mother untill at least 9 weeks of age she was wed from her 2 soon so now she is looking for milk/comfort from your dog. My kitten who was found on the road liked to suck at my neck when she was a baby now that she is older she stoped doing that.

Do you not have the mother? Was this a stray cat? No kitten should be without its mother at 6 weeks of age. If you have purchased this kitten, the seller is not reputable. 8 weeks minimum, 12 weeks is the best. The kitten is trying to nurse. This is too young to be without mom unless mom was killed, etc.

Is kitty trying to nurse your dog or just sucking on tummy? I think it is normal because 6 weeks is pretty young to take them away from their mommy. This is little different but our dachsund puppy has tried to nurse my husband's tit while we watching tv one night and she was probably about 6 weeks. Kitty should grow out of it, cause pup hasn't done it lately. Get her/him some play toys and maybe this could help.
Good Luck!

Yes, it is normal. It is just because she is still wanting to nurse. Eventually, she will lose the desire to nurse when she gets a little older, and she will grow out of sucking on your dog's tummy.

yes, at least my cat did it to my dog when she was a little kitten, she is trying to get milk, it will stop soon, but if it is like my cat it may think it is a dog. she cleans my dog when the dog comes in from outside, sleeps with the dog, it is kind of wierd but cute
