Not being Mormon but raised in a community that is mostly mormon I think i know why. Truthfully the LDS church is one step from a cult and their main goal is not saving souls but increasing the money their members give to the church. Mandatory tithes and such. Opening the door to the black community allowed them to gather more funds. This is also why they encourage you to have big families. You are doing your part to produce more tithing members of the church. Cold I know and very bitter but this is how I see it. I'm sure youll get better answers than my hate filled paranoid rant. Sorry if I wasn't much help.

because of fact the Carter administration permit that's popular that it would heavily evaluate taking flight the 501c3 tax exempt status of the church - that's what enables that's contributors to deduct donations from their earnings taxes. no longer all non-revenue are 501c3, some are not allowed to have the donations marked as tax deductions for the donors. The shape does no longer assure 501c3 status to any organisation, even church homes. So while the money flow grew to become into getting threatened, the Apostles and familiar Presidency met in the Utah Temple for a pastime of poker, and desperate, ok, the SOBs are coming after the money, permit's tell our those that God has spoken - blacks could have the priesthood. Mitt grew to become right into a counter-protester against universities whose athletic communities have been boycotting BYU for racism. So Mitt as Cougar club President held some very valuable fundraisers to proceed the racist rules of BYU. As to why Mitt could be a member - he's White, he has ancestors tied to the unique founders of Salt Lake, one ancestor grew to become into an Apostle - if Daddy grew to become right into a Mormon-KKK member, Sonny boy would be a Mormon-KKK member - the only distinction is that Mormons do no longer use a pass.

It is difficult to understand, I know. You should know, however, that the Mormons never impeded anyone of any race to join the church. Blacks have been members of the church since it started in the early 1800s. The restriction was on blacks holding positions of authority in the priesthood. I'm sure you've seen many churches that don't allow women to be priests. Well, the Mormon church didn't allow all races to be priests until 1978. Actually, there were many churches, not just the Mormons, that did not allow blacks to be priests/pastors until the 1960s. Many in the Mormon church felt that the restriction should be dropped, even earlier than that. However, in our church we believe that we cannot make any major change in policy until our Prophet has received a revelation from God permitting the change. Although they had prayed about it for years, the revelation did not come until 1978. But the Church always allowed people from any race to come in and be members of the church.

Well being that some of the rituals in the temple are based on freemasondry and that the freemasons woulnd't allow african american into the freemasons until they established their own lodge (correct me if I am wrong), and the Mark of Cain was and still is black skin int heir KJV Bible and Ham's wife is black (which explains how the black race survived the flood) and the indians even had a mark of Dark skin, you need to check out the war in heaven story to, I would say this all points to prejudism, some mormons are not prejudist, because I grew up mormon and currently I am a christian who goes to a nondenominational church that has many races going to it including bi-racial couples, I think its harder for the mormons in UT tho because there arn't as many african Americans in Utah, Idaho, or wyoming. I only went to high school with maybe two black people out of 400 others. Mormons also believe that God changes and other christians do not believe that God changes his mind.

Blacks have been members of the church since the days of Joseph Smith. The priesthood was withheld by direction from the Lord. In 1978, after years of pondering and petitioning the Lord on this matter, the long awaited answer was received that the time was right for the priesthood to be extended to all worthy males regardless of race. This was a necessary step in bringing the gospel to all of God's children. Because of this revelation, we have been able to expand the church into Africa as well as all the other nations where the black peoples were exported to. I spent two years in Brazil and this was a matter of great concern to us. It was a great blessing to be able to extend the full blessings of the gospel to all the people of Brazil without having to check their lineage first.
All things are done in the Lord's own time. So it was and so it is.

Mormonism exists best in an isolation, and that's how Utah has been until recent times. Mormonism is solidly in the 19th century as far as morals, theology, science and wisdom. Exposure to the world has caught them off-guard.
They now must contend with their previous backward and ethnocentric speeches, talks and publications, and have even developed a complete organization (Maxwell Institute) to both defend and obfuscate their dogma to make it appear 'relevant', or at least misinterpreted.
The recent announcement that the Fundamentalist LDS church (which maintains the original racist and polygamous teachings) to legitimize polygamy adds more fuel to the fire.
In the end analysis, the mormon god is a capricious, ever-changing chameleon who is biased against "dark" skin, non-members, gays and lesbians, history and science. Too back they don't make any swell furniture to make up for their ******** religion.

Yeah its quite sad Im not from America but I heard Im not quite sure which state that there is a White LDS church and a Black LDS church I mean thats just seriously ****** up and yet theyre the ones saying you must love one another not just white ppl? Yknw what I mean I mean Im not racist but I was bought up in the Mormon church and in our church in N.Z yknw its multi-cultural I mean yeah we have some ppl who judge others but thats their problem really. I didnt think in America they allowed blacks in the church yknw it was always separate. But its funny cause if you look in the Tabernacle choir there are no black ppl in there its quite sad really.
It is alittle racist but then racistism is always gonna be around hopefully the world will change one day.
The Mormon church is like every other religion we all have our flaws but all religions have one thing in common and thats teaching about the Lord and thats the main thing to remember, really I dont see the difference between the religions we teach about the Lord, We learn about the Lord only difference is the names of religion and the way we teach it thats all. I was baptized a Mormon but I dont class myself as anything just a believer in God and thats all I need and my faith.
Good question though

We all know that Romney must have been a "Valliant Warrior" in the "War in Heaven" during the "Pre-Existence". How else could he have been born "White and Delightsome" to an LDS family here on Earth? Heck, he was probably one of the Commanding Generals . Now , America needs a President with valuable military experience like that to get us through our war in Iraq. Could you please ask "The One and Only True Prophet", Gordon Hinkley, to please release those valuable records to the public? We need to know what battles he fought in. How many medals he won. How many of the "Less Valliant Soldiers" he recommended being born with black skin when they got their chance to be born on Earth. Was Al Sharpton one of THEM ? How about Jesse Jackson? Mormons, this is your chance to show the world the light of the everlasting gospel. Dont miss out. We have General Romney running for president of the USA and we need you badly right now!
