Is this something that happens only during full moons?

It's unusual, but it happens. I've seen a few dogs with hairy tongues which is sort of gross, but it isn't a problem! Might make it difficult to have sweet smelling breath, but otherwise shouldn't be a problem.

It means he's slowly turning inside out. Go buy some good dog grooming supplies like brushes and shears, you'll need them in just a few more days.
