Not always. If it's a Hamburger Helper night, just slop it on the plate. If you're proud of what you cooked, then garnish and arrange nicely to show off your work. I always feel better when things look nice, it is a form of art. But not always necessary.

I feel cooking in general is an art, presentation is just part of that.

In a nice restaurant, definitely. But at home, I use salad plates for our dinner to cut down on portions. As long as the food isn't messy and touching, I don't really care how it looks. I mean, I'm not going to throw a chicken breast upside down, but I will have it right side up. But I'm not going to twirl my pasta to put on my plate. And I don't really need parsley decorating my plate just to make it look nicer.

NO, Food is for eating.
Presentation can make it look appealing but the taste and textures are much more important.

That's a bunch of C----. I don't want to hang it on the wall, I want to eat it. That's why they charge you the big bucks in the fancy restaurants. One or two peas and a bite or two of meat and they call that a meal and charge you for it. Come On!!!!
