Well, my best friend's girlfriend has a tattoo in the exact same location, except she has 3 or four stars, but according to her, to get the tattoo done didn't hurt, but just the location for healing was a little bothersome, I mean with clothes rubbing against it and sleeping on it can and do bother tattoos, and also can hook the scab. As for my personal experiance I only have a tattoo near my shoulder and on/above my ankle so far, and I slept through both of them

yes it will hurt!!! the side of you torso is very sensitive and so is the hip bone.. it will take about and hour and a half to 2 hours to complete this depending on the artist...make sure you do your homework on the artist and shop ou choose... i have some bad tattoos and i have some good ones...if you live in central california i can tell you the best place to go!!! Anyways...yes its going to hurt and I will admit i cried while getting a tattoo before but whenyour done and you have this awesome artwork on you that you can be proud of..you forget about how bad it hurt!! It is worth it as long as it turns out good!!! You wont regret it...So grit your teeth and bring a friend or boyfriend for moral support..i always bring my boyfriend because i try to act like a hardass in front of him so i have to try even harder to act like it doesnt hurt!! haha but seriously though its an awesome piece and the pain will be nothing compared to your pride when your done!!

I think it looks better with color. All tattoos hurt, no way around it but that being said the pain is a relative thing. There is this huge urban myth about the "pain" of tattoos and everybody buys into it esp. those who don't have any ink yet. I think you'll be fine it's not that big and the outline is simple. Go alone, don't bring anyone with you, they'll just be a distraction. Good luck and have fun!

Nice tattoo, It'll hurt a little, they all do, but it's a different bearable kind of pain coz you're getting something gorgeous out of it in the end! I have one in about the same area and was really skinny when I had it done so hurt when going over the bone. Go for it though, it's worth it and it's not the most painful place you could have picked!

I think it's cute. As far as copying, I think unless it's an original piece of work, it's ok. Alot of people use the flash art, etc. that they find at their tattoo shop and there's nothing wrong with that. What are the chances that you will ever run into someone who has the same tatt? I never have.
Get what you like!

It will hurt more toward your hip bone because there's no fat there but once the tattoo gun is away from your hip bone it won't hurt as bad. I think it's a beautiful tat!! Very sexy! I agree that it would look better w/o color.

All tattoos hurt but that one would not be quite as bad. It hurts when you tattoo over the bone.

No one can tell you where it is going to hurt. Everyone is different and you body is different too. You may not mind it in one place then you might hate it in another.
Women take it better than guys.
Do your homework as to who your tattoo artist is going to be.
That tat is gonna look good black and grey.
