After you tan outside, does it help to shower after to make it "set"? I heard that somewhere but I don't know if it's true.

No. It's actually not a very good idea to shower immediately after you tan, becuase your skin is still burning and tanning even after you're out of the uv rays. Showering doesn't really affect your tan whatesoever though, but if you use hot water it'll just make the tan irritable and the skin red.

Tanning your skin is actually burning the upper layers of your epidermis. Once tanned there is nothing you can do to make it stay longer than the natural shedding of your skin layers.

once youve been sitting in the sun the heat and UV rays make the tan. it has nothing to do with a shower
