I'm a dental student. When we start injecting local anesthetic, I am going to do it to myself eventually to see if I am doing a good job.

Similarly, when we learn to administer nitrous oxide, I am going to try that too. I think a professional should know as much as they can about what they put their patients through and while I cannot perform procedures on myself, I can administer these things to myself and have an idea about what the patient is going through

Anyone have nitrous oxide before? Im aware of the chemical and pharmacological identities of the compound. Before I try it, I'm just trying to find out if I'm missing anything. Anyone think of anything?

No one will find out if I use it just once.

i have done it, gotten sweet air(laughing gas, nitrous oxide)..i love it, because ironically(dental assistant) im a little afraid of being in the dental chair and it helps relax me,and make me feel calm.you should try it...next itme you get some work done even a cavitiy explain that you want to try it to know what the patients you are working on are feeling, so you know how to interact with them and talk to them..cause believe me, i know, some people get really wacky on the stuff ex. because the nitrous is turned on to high...and little oxygen(that another reason the explain the chemical compound) but i do strongly recomend you try it(i believe it helps you understand and become a better dentist by it)just dont do it behind anybody back, if you know what i mean..not worth the risk, but if you get get a friend or a teacher to let you try it if you dont do it while getting dental work explain to them how you need to know and because why it will help you understand it better...its worth a try if it helps you be a better dentist because of it...good question:)

I'm not a Dr. and that being said -

When you get No2 at the dentist it is a mixture of No2 and O2 (oxygen) they just don't give you straight pure No2.
Pure No2 "in large amounts".. is certainly poisonous.

Whip-its or whip cream cans won't do much damage to you if used in MODERATION.

Also, Inhaling No2 from tanks made for performance automobiles can KILL you.

Also referred to as laughing gas, and can be used to supercharge your car. Illegal to use as an inhalant unless under doctors instructions.
Here you go learn all about it but recommend you do not try it

illegal my butt, it's called whip its. and ya used to be able to buy it at smoke shops. haven't looked in over 10 years, but you are on the internet. surely someone still sells them. but you will need a cracker. so don't buy the cartridges without a means of using it. that would suck.
