I like one girl who I suspect likes me too. although the problem Is her mate is very keen on me. Can I ask this girl out or would it not be fair on her mate. If I can how do I go about it?

If you're not interested in her friend, then you don't need to worry about her. It's not your problem. It would only be a problem between the two girls and that's for them to solve. Go ahead and ask the girl out! Good luck!

you can only ask her you don't want second best that would not be fair to you and both girls drop a hint to your wanna be girlfriend mate so she don't feel left out good luck hope you get your girl

When you say mate....are you saying that she already has a boyfriend because if thats the case then i suggest that you move on to another girl cause that girls taken

if you do.. ahh. complications. work out who you like the most. tread carefully, you make the wrong decision then you're stuck with it. [most] girls won't go out with their friend's ex-boyfriends, so make sure you chose the right one =]
if you dont like the other girl, then dont worry too much about her. ask out the girl you do like =] just be aware that she may be a bit reluctant if she knows that her friend likes you too. dont be offended if she says no, shes most probably refusing as not to upset her friend.
if she does say yes, then be sensitve to her friend. she wont want to see you to kissing and hugging all the time, it'll make her feel like cr*p basically. not desirable, as it'll put strain on their relationship, and ultimately on yours too, so play nice =]
