I do not personally see Slayer and Marilyn Manson as agents of Satan. However, some evangelical Christians might, and if they liked these acts before their conversion, they might enjoy a band that sounded like these groups but didn't carry the "negative" message. I was once in a Protestant bookstore and actually saw a "sounds like" chart for contemporary Christian rock. It listed groups and singers and said that if you liked that act, you'd like a certain Christian band that supposedly sounded like them. I don't remember either Slayer or Manson being listed on that chart, though.

There sounds like there was a part one to this question. I'll try to answer this part. People like different musical styles. The style is not what is important. It's the message that's important. The only problem I have is when the lyrics are so vague as to what the message really is. Slayer once had a song To Hell With The Devil. To me that could be a Satanic anthem. I'm very choosy as to my music. I like very worship-full, God glorifying music. If the message is lost in the music, or confusing and unclear, I have no use for it. God bless!!!

Umm, it's just instruments making sounds. It's only Christian because of the lyrics and message. Music is music, and personally none of the Christian rock I hear comes close to souding like Marilyn Manson. Nickelback or Stone Temple Pilots maybe, but no Manson.

Maybe they are compromising with culture a little too much. Just because something is "Christian" or they mention "God" certainly doesn't mean they are aligning with God's word.
