Any thoughts that aren't Godly or pleasing to the Lord are thoughts/fiery darts/lies etc. from the enemy. We have to rebuke them in the Name of Jesus immediately we're aware of. The negative thoughts always try to creep back in but we need to resist the devil & he shall flee.
Just see(w/ your spiritual eyes) him running like a wounded puppy as soon as you rebuke him. It does work...as you exercise this you get stronger in your spiritual warfare. It's a daily battle & we as soldiers of Christ need to put on our full armor of God on and fight many times with scripture like "Greater is He within me than he who is in the world"
and "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Our sword is the Word of God and ofcourse prayer is very powerful. Oh and worshipping our Lord, the enemy can't stand it.
I can go on & on but will stop here. If you have any further ?'s, feel free to email me.

This is a good question. One that not only applies to Christian teens but adults as well.

As Christians we are responsible for our thought lives as well. This is very hard sometimes to deal with.

The best answer is obviously prayer. Ask God for His help in keeping a clean thought life. This is something we should do everyday and at every occurrence.

We are going to be tempted. We are going to have brief moments where things "slip through". The objective should be to move as quickly as possible away from these thoughts onto things more Godly.

I like to think of it as misdirection. The brain starts churning out some ideas that are not wholesome. I quickly try to refocus my attention on something entirely unrelated. A book, a song or a rock on the ground. Anything that will help me break the chain of thought that I was starting on. Then prayerfully ask God to help eliminate this type of thought from your life.

It is not wrong to be tempted. It is wrong to entertain these thoughts for very long. To expand upon the original thought and seek it through to its logical conclusion so-to-speak.

I'm sure there are other very good suggestions out there.

You hear many different voices in your mind....The Spirit man which reveals all truth...your soul which knows both good and evil..and the devil who can put thoughts into your mind. You can trust the Spirit, your soul you cannot as it is both good and evil..and of course the devil is obvious..totally evil and a schemer who can make a lie look like the truth. The best way to lie and to have someone believe it.... is to tell closest to the truth. If a thought comes into your head you can test the Spirits by asking the Holy Spirit....Is this a spirit that declares Jesus came in the flesh? If u get a no..then it is not from God...but from your soul or the enemy inside you. To take a thought captive...bind up the enemy (there is the verse about binding up the strong man and then u can plunder his house) the strong man is Satan. So you bind him up..and say no Satan I rebuke you and take this thought captive in the name of Jesus. Go to the foot of Jesus Christ to be dealt with. In Jesus name I pray Amen. Eventually the devil will get sick of it and will come at you in one directon and flee in 7 directions as the Bible states. This is something the devil does not want u to know. The other thing you can do is ask the Lord for the gift of discerment....which is administered by the Holy Spirit and God will graciously grant it to you as it says in James Chapter 1 vs 1-8.

Jam 1:1 This letter is from James, a slave of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is written to Jewish Christians scattered among the nations.[fn1] Greetings!
Jam 1:2 Dear brothers and sisters,[fn2] whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy.
Jam 1:3 For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.
Jam 1:4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything.
Jam 1:5 If you need wisdom-if you want to know what God wants you to do-ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking.
Jam 1:6 But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
Jam 1:7 People like that should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
Jam 1:8 They can't make up their minds. They waver back and forth in everything they do.
James tells us we can ask for anything....God is holding it in his hands ready to give it to us waiting for us to ask. All we have to do is ask and believe. If u have trouble with the faith issue and doubt again ask God for it..and it will be granted unto you. These days the doors of the blessings of heaven are open to believers.

God bless u Shauanate D,

Daniel

Philippians 4:8 Finally brethren whatsoever things are true . . . honest . . . just . . . lovely . . . pure . . . of good report; if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Try singing a good Christian song of praise to God in your mind when you have bad thoughts.

by giving those thoughts to Jesus and asking Him to take them from you if they are not pleasing to Him. You have no power of yourself, but all power in Him who lives within you: The Holy Spirit.

Run from temptation, and that might mean not hanging out with so-called "friends".
