I have no idea. It is very clear that the God of the Old Testament is anthropomorphic. It speaks of his face, his eyes, his hands, fingers, feet, back, etc. It speaks of him sitting, standing, walking. Prophets like Moses, Isaiah, and Ezekiel saw God and described him in anthropomorphic terms. All these references cannot be dismissed as metaphorical or angelic visitations. We are talking about visions of Yahweh on his throne. As Judaism/Christianity became more heavily influenced by Greek philosophy, the idea of having a God that looks like a human fell out of favor until God became an "essence" without "body, parts, or passions." This was not the original belief about God.

In religion and mythology, anthropomorphism refers to the perception of a divine being or beings in human form, or the recognition of human qualities in these beings.

Well, anthropomorphism does not offend me if others practice it. How can I, with my imperfect knowledge of God, criticize others knowledges? However, for me personally, to reduce God to an image of His creation rather than vice versa, makes no sense.

They have a proprietary concept of a soul. The inference that a "non-human (non-WASP)" could have a soul or be equally "chosen", threatens their sense of superiority.

I don't see why it would be. The idea of God describing Himself in an earthly way so we can understand is not hard to understand.
