I occasionally join Weight Watchers UK and lose weight. I then stop going when I get to my target weight and it usually takes me about 2/3 years to put it back on and so for me it works. The whole cycle starts again when i reach an unacceptable weight and that is always the same.

some say yes, some say no. Personally I think people could loose the weight without those programs, but some don't have as much will power to do it on their own. So if you fit in that "no will power" category, then maybe it'll be worth it. Those programs basically tell you what you already know or read about, but some people need someone to tell them what to eat how to eat and when to eat it. And they need someone to encourage them and be accountable with them if they fall off the wagon. Otherwise, drink water, stay away from white bread, white flour, white sugar. Exercise is VERY important. If you're just starting, 30-40 mins. for 4-5 days is efficient, then increase your workout. If you try to loose weight too fast, it's a good chance you could gain it back as fast as you lost it! And allow yourself a "cheat" day, like a Saturday when you eat foods that you really enjoy and that are bad for you. You need to indulge, but in moderation. You can do! Once you see the results you'll be more determined to eat right and exercise. Good Luck!

It all depends on your own desire and rhe group itself. after my second child was born i was absolutely determined to lose all my baby weight and joined a slimming club. I found it brilliant....loads of help with recipes and tips for cutting calories. It was good to share the experience with other people in the same boat, too. Also, when we had to say whether we'd lost/gained weight after the weigh-in gave me the incentive to stick with it during the week between meetings. The shame of having to confess to piling on weight .....!

This depends upon your personality; if you can do things on your own, then NO. If you need to do things in a group, then perhaps, if you can get someone to join with you that you like to do things with.

Hi it depends on whether you can diet better with the support and discipline a club provides.
