Aerobic exercise is it. You can do all the crunches and fancy ab work you want, and all you'll have is strong stomach muscles under a glob of fat. Belly fat, unfortunately, are the body's last reserves. You have to get rid of the excess fat stored in the rest of your body in the muscles and under the skin first, through exercise. Once you do that, your body will start burning the belly fat off better during your aerobic sessions, then all those crunches will show up.

•Drink a minimum of eight cups of water a day to prevent dehydration. Drink more if you exercise regularly or live in warm, humid climates. •Cardio constitutes as an effective means of reducing belly fat, provided you keep it within reason. Losing belly fat with cardio is a tool. There is no way to target fat loss in any area of your body. You need to lose some of that extra fat over your abs. Even if you work out and get huge abs muscles, if there is still a layer of fat over them no one will ever get to see them. Cardio workouts are workouts that raise your heart rate for a given set of time. Some examples would be running, jogging, cycling, dancing and rowing. • Doing 20-30 minutes of high strength gap training three to five times a week is enough to boosting your metabolic rate and burning fat. •Add stomach exercises to your workout. Simple exercises such as sit ups, pushups, pull ups, Squats, leg lifts and basic abdominal crunches and turn around abdominal crunches can contribute toward that curved flat stomach you need.

Contrary to popular belief you can't do a zillion sit ups and have nice abs. It is impossible to target it is a full body thing.
Do muscle training w/ cardio for about an hour 3 to 4 days a week. if you want it fast you have to be mad dedicated. You need to reduce your daily caloric intake by 500 to have any weight loss. And remember muscle weighs more that fat :)

do stretches that strengthen the muscles in your belly..do cardio to burn the fat to reveal a flatter tummy...
here's a nice stretch:

Lie on your back with your hands behind your head and your legs extended and lifted directly over your hips, perpendicular to the floor. Point your toes toward the ceiling, turn your feet out slightly, and lift your head, looking between your thighs. Inhale while lowering your legs toward the floor about six inches (don't arch your back). Exhale while lifting them back up.

do it as many times as you can and gradually build up..

You have to do cardio for at least 30 mins a day for weeks to see a big change, mix that in with lots of situps/crunches and a healthy diet. But, all this depends on how much you have to lose.

Do exercises like sit-ups or crunches. Try eating slower, when you eat fast, you actually gain more weight. After a meal, take a walk. Eat low-cal and healthy foods.
