Well, I'm afraid that we in the UK can claim as much credit as anyone for the decline in the language;and much as it gauls me to say it, certain Americans do as much as anyone to keep the language beautiful.
Let us hope that it's not too little too late.

Well, I wouldn't say that the US has screwed it up. They're are many Americans who still speak well and enunciate their words and speak clearly. It has a good flow to it and I especially like some of the southern accents as long as the language is used well.
I have also been to places in Ireland and Scotland where the accent was so thick I couldn't understand it much at all.
It's the silly stuff like Ebonics, misspellings, and using numbers to portray letters and words that really looks ridiculous and is a massacre to the English language.
If people do not want to use the English language simply because it's England's language or to advance and move on with their lives in English speaking nations then please remember one thing, it is the Englishman's letters you are using to make yourself look foolish and to probably be denied that next job interview you so graciously seek

You havn't. The grammar used by government depts. in Britain is really incomprehensible sometimes. I have had questionaires, from government departments, with ambiguous meanings, which have needed me to telephone in order to determine exactly what was meant.
Sometimes is now some times
Nowhere is now no where.
I could go on at some length, but I think that it is only in the spelling that there could be an issue with the exception of
LAB- ORAT- ORY and not LAB-ROT-REE. I trust you understand.

Hello there in the USA! I don't know how we can expect our schools to teach spelling now - as your way of spelling things has complicated education! As indeed has your grammar!
For example I learned that the word was colour, not color!
And different from not to or than!

Languages evolve, the English language in particular. When your "rule" over the world ends (and it will) the language will evolve again....So what you have done is nothing special or unique....whats it like to know that possibly the next big influence on the language will be Muslims - the people your Prez is trying to eliminate?

Aren't we the 51st State anyway? We seem to have a state Governor called Blair who panders to Dubya? Besides which the USA dumbed down our written language. I think Autumn was too hard to spell for many Americans so it's now called "fall". You dropped a few vowels to make spelling easier too, such as Color instead of colour. Best of all, the Yanks don't know their hands from their feet - your so called football is played mainly with your hands.

i think that as long as people can accept that there is American English and English and that they are two different languages it all works out great! and as long as i dont have to deal with some of the idiots i've had to talk to (americans telling me that I dont speak good english, and offering to teach me "proper" english) then we can all get along just fine!!!

before everything, no longer all the founders believed on your theory of "majority rule". simply by fact of this we've the form, and the ideally suited courtroom. If the U. S. Democracy have been "assume" to be consistent with a majority of the inhabitants, segregation or perhaps slavery would nevertheless exist, women human beings won't have the the final option to vote, and beer would desire to be unlawful. Thomas Jefferson, who wrote the statement of Independence and the bill of Rights, wrote volumes against what he mentioned simply by fact the "tyranny of majority". Ben Franklin, who helped draft the form, mentioned that majority rule is "2 wolves and one sheep figuring out what's for dinner". 2d, your question is stuffed with bait and hateful opinion and that i project you to place up basically one link helping your fact that "sufferers in hospitals can(did you propose can't?) talk with medical doctors (be)reason they do no longer talk English. Or a criminal is desperate unfastened...". 0.33, your writing is stuffed with grammar blunders and semantic inconsistencies. in case you your self have been in a position to chat / write / spell English wisely your argument would have extra authority. upload: it incredibly is humorous. None of those articles recommend making English the professional language. in reality all of them reflect compassionate awareness for my section. To be honest, I in basic terms asked you to link articles suggesting that public officers are having difficulty conversing with non-English audio equipment, quite than articles that are strongly in prefer of an professional language. by making use of linking those articles, you're genuinely pointing out that, besides the indisputable fact that public officers or perhaps companies can, and rightly ought to, use creativity and mind's eye to chat with non-English audio equipment, we nevertheless want an professional language. i visit argue that selection enriches our language and way of life, basically as lack of know-how and prejudice banalizes. and that i encourage to selection on your skills. i don't have self belief which you probable would desire to tell a doctor what's incorrect, or a cop what the suspect gave the effect of, in view which you're an fool.
