Obviously, this doesn't happen all the time, but it seems to happen more often than not.

Minor thing, but I just realized that my question should probably say "act respectfully."

Because people assume that for a guy act like this someone (probably a woman either his mom or his wife) had to teach him that behavior.

Of course if a woman wants to try to teach a guy to act like this it never really works so I don't know why the label even exists.

Did you ever notice that the really "classy" people act respectful to other people, yet they are not labeled as henpecked or pussywhipped, etc.?

It is rather puerile that we label others who are brought up to show manners. It is like calling an educated black person a "sellout" because he studies and wants to become a doctor, lawyer or engineer.

No, the really classy people act respectful to everybody. It is the really lower elements of society that do not respect other people, particularly women.

This is not a reflection on the respectful person at all, but should, instead, be a red flag for you about the character of the person doing the labeling.

ty is right. the name caller is prpbably a little jealous too. they see tend to see consideration and kindness as weakness instead of strength.
