The Bible doesn't say that.

It IS a contradiction. These women have all bought into the liberal interpretation that has become so prevalent today.
We don't get to decide the truth, we can only discover what the truth is...and too often, the truth is not what we want to hear.
Those with a more honest and ready heart will accept it even when it isn't what they want to believe. Those people apparently do not.
Their arguments in favor of this and other issues can sound quite right, but they fail at several points.

The Bible requires reinterpretation periodically,in view of changed or changing social circumstances. In the ancient world labor was heavy and manuel and in most cases would have exhausted a typical woman both physically and emotionally, probably to the point of early death. Today most work is non-manuel; office work, for the most part,so women are not disadvantaged. When the Bible was written it was considered more humane (the motive was not sexist) to have women look after children while the husband labored. But this meant women led very restricted lives afffording little opportunity for the broad range of experience of which wisdom is borne. So they often had little more than a child's understanding of the world, due to their isolation. Today women circulate in and have experience of the world just as much as men and they are therefore just as likely to have an adult's experience of the world and a normal level of acquired wisdom. Therefore, there is no reason to disqualify them from being a minister. The Bible addresses eternal verities, but also topical conditions particular to the era. If a passage refers to an aspect of conditions in the ancient world, then it must be given a second look with due regard to changed circumstances.

They are not to preach in a congregation from a pulpit, nor be pastors. Those who do are in contradiction and set against the word of God. They do so because they know better than God, just as Eve did; and that is what got us into this mess in the first place.

Alot of Christians disregard what the Bible says in order to do as they wish. This is the same reason those same Christian women do not wear the headship covering. They are usurping power over the man and upsetting Gods appointed order. That is sin. A sin is sin, no matter how "well intentioned" a person may be. if a woman wishes to glorify God she must do it within the limits God has placed and then He will honor it.
But in any case it goes back to what D.L. Moody once said (I think it was him):
"The Lord's prayer is said daily by millions of people all around the world who have no intention of letting anyones will be done in their lives but their own."
Regardless of who said it, they were right on.

Actually, the passages regarding women and preaching were written in very specific letters by Paul, written for a specific audience. Paul was concerned in certain cities and societies that allowing women to preach would be a distraction and controversy that would not help Christianity succeed in those areas. Meanwhile, in several parts of other letters, Paul specifically references women in important leadership roles that suggest that they DID preach. There is no contradiction. There are merely different circumstances and context.

There is no contradiction. Women are not to preach in the congregation. That is to be done by the men who take the lead.
Other than that, women must be obedient to the commission Jesus gave to preach, teach and make disciples. Moreover, women are to teach their children.

It is because women since the dawn of time have wanted to have the same as men. Even today, a woman gets paid the same as a man, can do as much as a man...heck, a woman can even become a man (which is going overboard, but proves the theory of pen*s envy). I just don't understand why women can't give up the fact that God appointed man over woman and the woman is to support the man in his endevours. I don't mean that women are men's doormat, I just believe that we have taken away man's thunder, eh, us women. Like stealing the pants off his butt and putting them on ours. Now we (women) wear the pants of the family...and I don't nessessarily agree with that...I like the fact that my husband "rules" over me, I still like having someone tell me what is appropriate and what isn't...because if it is left up to my own understanding, I might lead myself down the wrong path and my God and my husband keeps me on the straight and narrow.

It doesn't say that. It says they should keep quiet in the church. In the old days men were more educated than women and the men sat on one side of the room and the women on the other. When the teacher said something that the women didn't understand they would call across the aisle and ask their husbands what it meant. It caused a distraction in the service, so Paul wanted them to ask their questions when they got home. Jesus recognized women ministers, Priscilla was one He named.

Excellent question. The bible makes it clear that women should not speak or teach the “word of god” in church. Christians ignore this part of the bible because they know that they will look even worse than they already do if they follow such a sexist rule.

Because they, like lots of other people, choose to only pay attention to the parts of the Bible that support their own personal ideas, wants, beliefs, and agendas, and ignore the rest of it, justifying doing so by calling those parts out-dated, old-fashioned, not actually the word of God, or simply wrong. My question would be, if you don't believe all of it, why believe any of it? The Bible is the inspired word of God; it is not for us to choose what we agree and disagree with; we are simply to obey all of it.
