not sure where you have got your info from but i think you are mistaken or misled..
have a look at these sites..
http://www.statistics.gov.uk/specials/babiesnames_boys.asp
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4148335.stm
i think i read something about this weeks/months ago where some of the tabloids blew it all up out of proportion trying to stir things up, it is about it rapidly growing in popularity rather than actually being top at this point.
as to what Gaddafi said i think what will actually happen is that muslims in Europe will integrate more, as have many other peoples and religions..
it may seem hard to believe just now, but in reality just because radical Islam and muslim fanatics are what makes the news, the truth is that most muslims are moderate and tolerant in their adherence to Islam..
EDIT - wow, yet again a big show of ignorant racist people on yahoo answers, well done the lot of you...

You report inaccurately. The most common male baby name in all its various spellings was Oliver. Mohammed in all its various spellings was fourth. How many Mohammeds are we speaking about as you try to ramp of fear and loathing? How about....less than 7,500 babies were named the various spellings of Mohammed out of over 706,000 births in Great Britain ins 2009. About 1% were named some variation of Mohammed. So I will tell you what this means: NOTHING. It is just a tool for fear mongering and a particularly stupid one once you know all the facts. See article linked below.

well you could say that, however many
followers of Islam call there sons Mohamed, but there is more choice of names that European people choose for there children, so if you matched European births against Islam births i don't think there is any contest!! all religion is dying out slowly, most of my Muslim friends do not follow their parents belief, i think if you look back at this time in three decades religon will be a thing of the past with science taking over we all know that the earth was created by the bigbang and we have fossils to prove it no little book written 100's of years ago will change that, if you know how radio waves work and how evolution has progressed, People will have a true understanding of where we came from,
Colonel gaddafi will be in the history books which you could also say are fact!!!!

What about it? It is completely irrelevant other than to show that Muslims are growing faster than any other group in the UK.
By 2010 the majority group in Texas will be Hispanic. As a demographic fact that cannot be disputed. However, in and of itself it means nothing.
If Europe becomes Muslim in 30 years then it does. That would hardly be the end of the world.

mury902 is wrong --we have tons of names but it is the most popular name among muslims
I think it is an interesting fact. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.
pups you crack me up--David is Dawud in Arabic and quite popular --Sam is Samir and I know many Samir's too!!!
EDIT: If it bothers you so much, why don't all of you petition your governments to either put a cap on the # of children a couple can have (like China) or try to up the birthrate of non-muslims? It won't matter anyway, ppl will still convert to islam--w/o coersion.

I wonder then, if this would still be the case if most non muslim families each called every son john, would john be the 1st most popular name? I dont believe for one minute that this country of ours will become Islamic.

I would prefer more people to be christians, buddhists, atheists etc, mainly because I would certainly never want to live in a mohameddan country. The glossy image we get presented with doesn't fit with the behaviour of Mohammed; and his standards are the ones the muslim will look up to - if he deceived and threatened when he could, then that must be OK in the minds of those who look to him as a paragon and standard.
Actually God is in control. Satan may try and deceive men through various plausible philosophies and ideas, but God's desire is for people to receive salvation through faith in Christ. But this is not forced on people. It is often the case historically that when Satan's schemes seem likely to succeed, God just utterly changes things by His Spirit.
"Not by power, not by might, but by My Spirit, says the LORD".

It's a sign that Muslims have higher birthrates.
Not that Gaddafi is a prophet.
