I was told from a vet that you can't use any flea products on kittens under 12 weeks old, but the vet told me that thing that works the best is Dawn Dishsoap lemon scent. When we first got my kitten he was 6 weeks old and he had fleas. I went and bought the dawn lemon scent soap and gave him a bath once and the fleas were all gone and too this day haven't come back either. I quit buying the expensive flea shampoos and I just bathe both my cats in that and I no longer have fleas. The chemicals in the flea products can hurt your kitten.

Start using Revolutions!!!
you can get it at any vet
Now you have to give a bath to the kittens and the mom with a flea shampoo ASAP.
don't worry the kittens will be ok, I bathe mine at 2 weeks old.
Just rinse until the water is clear , keep them warm at all time after the bath.
I used tons of towel paper to dry them as much as I could and a heat pad.
AND........ clean and disinfect all their surrounding area, wash in hot water all their blankets and sleeping items.
they may be flea eggs or fleas around , you want them all dead.
Because the kittens are too small, you cannot use any flea spray on them nor their sleeping area.
Good Luck

Use Advantage on the momma cat every 30 days, but the kittens are too young to use it. Bathe them instead and use a flea comb, which you can get at a pet store. As you comb out the fleas, dip the comb in water mixed with dishwashing liquid.

Flea collars, dips, shampoos and powders are highly toxic. Don't use them.

Please bathe mom & babies with a gentle cat shampoo a human baby shampoo like Johnson & Johnsons baby shampoo and warm water. You may have to pick off fleas with tweezers, but if you leave the soap lather on a few minutes, it will usually smother most of the fleas. Be sure to towel kittens dry well - don't leave them wet or blow dry them at too high of heat - kittens that small can't regulate their own body temperature. Wash all their bedding or tie it up tight in a plastic bag & dispose of it in a tightfitting garbage bag. Get "Advantage" flea preventative - it comes in 2 sizes for cats - for cats under 9 lbs the amount is .4 ml of Advantage in a tube, and for cats over 9 lbs the amount is .8 ml of Advantage in a tube. For mama cat, use a tube of whichever size is appropriate for her weight; for the kittens, figure out their weight - use a scale - and split a tube, probably 1/2 or 1/3 of a tube per kitten - put the Advantage in a small glass, like a whisky shot glass & draw up the amount you'll need into a needleless syringe so you don't overdose the kittens as if you squeeze it directly from the tube, it comes out too fast & you'll put too much on. If you don't have a huge flea infestation, this will generally wipe out the fleas in your home too, as they will die when they jump on the cats, they will need to be retreated with flea preventative every month. If you do have a heavy flea infestation, you will need to remove mom & babies from the house, bomb it (check w/vet for type of bombs they sell & let them know you have cats/kittens as some types are toxic to them), then after waiting the amount of time noted on the label to kill the fleas, air the house out very well before returning animals to it- you should bomb again in a few weeks, as it takes that long for new fleas to hatch from any remaining eggs. That will clear everything up. Some vets will vaccinate as early as 6 weeks if kittens are in good health otherwise. Also, if you have fleas, that is how your cats/kittens get tapeworms; if they eat a flea, they wil have tapeworms, so ask you vet to deworm them on their first visit; vet will generally deworm again when they get 2nd vaccines about 3-4 weeks later. Good luck. Also, please spay mama kitty soon to prevent future litters & keep all inside to prevent picking up more fleas & to keep everybody safe. Thanks.

I seriously recommend Shaklee's Basic H2. It is a chemical free all purpose cleaner. I use it on my cats, dogs and just washed a pet mouse in it. It is safe to use on the kittens too. It kills fleas and lice and will kill any tape worms there might be if injested. It won't hurt them to injest it. Wash them all and leave everyone damp so momma has to lick clean. It will kill any worms momma has and it might enter the milk so the kittens get it to kill their worms (not sure on that part but it is a good possibility) And since it is soo consentrated you can use it for tons of other things. You can add a drop to the water (no more or they won't drink it, cats are picky) to help with the worms too. Or even just syringe some in, but that will make them mad lol.

You should certainly go to the vet to find out if they old enough to get flea stuff on them. I have a dachsund and she is very tiny. She is only about maybe 7 lbs +/-. (goes to get last shots tomorrow) They started her on Frontline at bout 6 weeks. The vet may be able to give you something for them though. Not sure if the flea passing fromthe momma to the babies while nursing but you have to do something for her to. Good Luck,

Use a flea collar or flea med on the mama. The kittens are too young for treatment, but if you have the patience to comb them with a lice comb, that might help.

use baby powder on the kittens do this every day. Just be careful of their eyes and nose. I tried this once on a new born I found it worked . You have to change the bedding twice every day to keep the fleas form jumping back on.

Use dawn dish washing soap I have bathed many kittens in it and it doesn't harm them or the momma also you never want to give them momma any flea medicine while she is nursing because it can enter the blood stream and effect her milk
