Henry Ford. Two reasons: One, if you picture someone's effect on history as ripples in a pond, the earlier the ripples start, the further they reach. His big impact happened very early in the century, so it's had more time to reach more people. Second, his production techniques made the 20th century (as we know it) possible. Hitler, forget about it. Without mass production, there would have been no blitzkrieg. It would have been a lot less of a blitz on foot. Plus, even the horrors of WWII faded, eventually. Ford's legacy is worldwide and growing.

I believe that distinction should go to Karl Marx. Even though Marx died in the 19th century (1883), his book "The Communist Manifesto" led to the creation of communist states in the 20th century and the titanic struggle between them and capitalist states, a struggle which has yet to be fully resolved. Eventually, I believe, a state of equilibrium will be reached where most state economies will become a hybrid of both communism and capitalism, or socialist, because in the final analysis, the welfare of people trumps the acquisition of profit.
