I am 6ft tall and i weight about 175lbs - i have quite a bit of muscle and im in the best shape ever.
this is what i have followed for 2 years now and i lost about 40lbs of fat (gained about 15-18lbs of muscle)
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Try that to see if you are overweight or not. On the Diet and Exercise board, I bet more people are in shape than the "average." After all, the average person is overweight so it is better to see how your weight is on you. Yes you should probably lose 20 lbs but age matters a lot in that too, so does how muscular you are. If you are a swimmer and workout 6 days a week you would weigh more.
I'm 5'4" and 135 lbs.

If you would like to lose 20 lbs there is really no point to compare your weight with other people.
go to Oprah.com
where you could find a lot of info on how to lose weight and keep it off... there are also other websites that assist you with this goal just google it...
Check your BMI (Body Mass Index)
BMI calculator: http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/...
Buy the book "YOU: on a Diet" by Dr. OZ
or "Ultimate Weight Loss Solutions" by Dr. Phil
Drink lots of water
eat breakfast (high fiber) daily &
eat regularly ( every 3-4 hours)
Exercise regularly (walk at least 30 mins a day)
strength training 3x/week (build muscles) ~~~>speeds up metabolism
Stay away from "white" food (enriched) like rice, pasta, bread, sugar, cookies
Avoid transfat
NO to high fructose corn syrup
goodluck...

If you wanna know how you stand, you shouldn't rely on how much other people weight because everyone's made differently. Instead you should try a method called BMI (Body Mass Index) which is calculated based on your age, weight and height and gender.
