A guy is selling a plasma which doesn't work when connect to HDTV, it powers off. But the menus work fine when its not connected. I can't test it, does anyone thing it will work when connected to component wires. What do you guys thing is wrong with it. Please let me know. thanks

would buy it because its only 100 bucks. If i can get it to work somehow, I just got a plasma tv for a 100 bucks. Tell me where else can you get a 42" plasma for that much

A wild guess. The circuit that drives the panel is faulty, so the TV turns off to protect the panel.
It probably does not matter if its HD or SD input, but the panel is probably OK.

So, call the TV company and ask them: Do they have parts for that model? If yes, how much is it going to cost you?

Well, that's just it. A $100 for a plasma seems a little odd especially for a 42.'' Maybe the guy was selling it because he knows it's not going to work or costs too much to get it fixed. Try asking him what the problem is.

Does the tv power up? I would assume that you need to change your input settings every time you turn the tv on if you leave the HDMI cable hooked up. When using a HDMI cable you need to set the input setting on the TV to HDMI. It sounds like it may be resting itself every time to a different input. I would mess around with this Input on the remote and see what happens.
