I gave three weeks notice yesterday to my supervisor! I dont have a job lined up though. This has been in the works for a while, so it wasn't a hasty decison trust me. I have money saved up for about 2 months to live off, and I have been looking for a job for several months now to no avail. My supervisor is horrible (see other questions I have asked in the past for details). My question is: What are other avenues besides networking and applying to companies I can go to try and find another job. Recruiters: How I can I really find a job quick? I am not to worried because if need be I can work at a mall for an inbetween job. I have my bachelors degree, and I have already signed up with a temp agency and I am leaving on good terms. I have told people I know I am looking for another job and I have been applying to places left and right.

I am just so scared. i have never quit anything in my life and have never been out of work. I feel so free though, now I just need a plan. Any advice?

If your current job is that bad, sounds like you "did what you gotta do". Realize that it might be awhile before you find the job you want. Sounds like you have a plan for surviving the interim, between savings, temp jobs and mall work.

Networking and applying to companies are basic search techniques. Be sure to watch the ads, in local newspapers, and online sources also. Many cities have online job listing websites.

Good luck. You'll be OK.

I would definately pursue the temporary job, even though it is not in your field. This way you can still maintain and not touch your two months of savings. Save that for any emergency that comes up while you are looking for a permanent position. Try the local www.craigslist.org for your area. A lot of people are posting positions there since it is just an easier mode of posting than the traditional monster.com, careerbuilder.com and hotjobs. com.

Good luck. If I didn't have kids, I would do the same thing!!

Go into business for yourself. I have had my resume out there for about 6 years now with no luck. If I didnt do consulting work, I wouldnt have any work at all. You are lucky if the mall people will hire you. They wont touch me because I have a college degree. The usual quip: "Why does a rocket scientist want to work here?" The economy is really really bad right now. Contrary to popular belief that "unemployment" is low - what they report on is the number of people who can collect unemployment - usually after somewhere betweeen 6 to 12 months after being out of work, you no longer can collect unemployment. The REAL unemployment figure is that 43% of all people 18 and over in the US are unemployed.

Definetly go to an employment agency. Also, you can apply to a temp agency while you are looking for work that's what I did and it helped pay the bills. Plus, a lot of times if they like you they will hire you from temp to perm!

Good luck!

start with your local job boards...there are tons out there. Just google your ideal job along with the location and you should get a ton of hits to start you off. Make sure you have your resume in top form before you go much further. Consider it your marketing tool to get your foot in the door. Good luck!

dont be afraid of what is yet to come in your life. yes finding a new job will be a challenge but it's something u cannot avoid if ur unhappy in ur current situation. dont be afraid to reeach out to friends, ask what positions are open in their companies, also if they could submit ur resume an dput in a good word for you. get the local paper and fax out ur resume, also call ur recruitment agency every day and hound them until they start setting u up on interviews.

I know exactly how you feel. I have been frustrated with my job cause I know I can do something else and make more money. A close friend of mine introduced me to this company the day I text her begging her if she knew of anything where I can make some extra money.
