It has always been legal! What are you talking about? The illegals are those who don't care about American law and customs...they ignore our laws and ignore our language...That is what should be outlawed..You want to be an american mexican? Or a Mexican American? No such thing! Things have been getting done here for over 300 years with and without mexicans....WHY WOULD YOU SAY, "NOTHING GETS DONE"? America will do fine without ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS! TRUST ME.... Here is what a former President of our country once said, and I totally agree!............"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
Theodore Roosevelt 1907

I think you are way off base. There is no excuse for breaking our immigration laws. We have legal immigration. But there are maybe 12 million illegals in the US who did not bother with legal immigration.
The illegals are pulling the US down, not building it up. American employers are exploiting illegals by paying them illegally low wages. Illegals do a lot of jobs that are not really needed, like landscaping, baby sitting and house cleaning. These things can all be done by the people who hire illegals. About 76% of the people working in agriculture in the US are citizens or legal aliens.
There are currently about 150 million people employed in the US who are not illegal. A lot gets done without counting work done by illegals.

Here's why I am opposed to legalizing illegal immigration in US.
1). Too many illegal Mexican gang members in US such as LA
2). It would be rewarding ALL illegals, even those who do illegal activities.
3). More illegals will cross the border and this process of legalizing illegals again will continue
4). The state of California cannot afford them: hospitals will still close down because too much spending on poor people. Our English speaking generation will degrade because the Mexicans will speak Spanish all the time and slow the class down.
5). Too many people, not enough jobs because of competition.
6). MAKE those using welfare who are able-bodied and not mentally retarded do the job illegals are doing. (have you seen how able-bodied most homeless are in San Francisco?)
Also, they're going to want higher paying jobs, equal opportunities, more money, more leisure time and then who's going to fill those positions.
We have laws to prevent chaos. This is chaos, which we do not want.
Have you seen on TV their major protest where they carried too many Mexican flags? You know where their loyalty lies.

Immigration IS legal, just not the way so many Mexicans do it. And by the way, the very idea of the U.S. not getting anything done without Mexicans is ridiculous. just think how much more we could get done if we didn't have to track your criminal butts down and send you home!! And since you asked, I think you're full of frijoles.

Immigration IS legal you brainiac! You just have to apply for it LEGALLY.
The point, apart from being a drain on society, is that if you want to work in the US, then you do so legally. Illegal immigrants use our roads and utilities and infrastructure and services yet do not contribute to their funding.
Beyond that, the border is highly porous meaning that not only are the illegal landscapers and roofers jumping it, so might terrorists. And the harsh reality is that they likely already have done so and are just waiting to strike.

Total Crap!
We never needed Mexico before and we don't need Mexico NOW.
Mexicans need us and our jobs and our comfort and our life style.
They fought a war to be independent from USA and if they want to help a country then they should go home and make changes in their OWN COUNTRY!
Immigration is not illegal--get your facts straight.
ILLEGALLY entering the country is A CRIME and should be punished by arresting, detaining, jailing and deporting ALL immigrants who are here with out LEGAL PAPERS!
WE CAN PICK OUR OWN STRAWBERRIES!
I agree with Ben C:" If Mexicans are such hard workers, what the hell is wrong with Mexico? " LMAO!

First of all, your question is mis-worded. Immigration IS legal if the immigrant goes through the LEGAL channels to become a citizen. The question should be: What do you think about amesty for ILLEGAL immigrants?
My answer to that question is I do NOT support amnesty for illegals. They are sponging off this country. They need to go back to their country. We would do just fine without them.

I think your statements are ridiculous. Things got done just fine before the Mexicans started flooding this country. It was legal Europeans who built this great nation.
NO AMNESTY!

I think you are wrong. Immigration has always been legal. I and many people have no problem with Mexicans comming here. We just dont want them sneaking across the boarder. Not paying there fair share and living off of the kindness of others. If you immigrated here legally then I am proud to call you an American. The boarder should be secured.

you don't make any sense - your rationale for legalizing immigration is so mexicans can work here and if they don't nothing will get done...wth?.....Maybe you want to get back to the economics book and see what kind of effect legalizing immigration would do to our society....not only the economics (i.e., standards, wages) of our society but security as well as drugs.....You're hispanic..okay...but that doesn't mean that you have to "stand up" for legalization of immigrants.
