I'm not gay but live in a gay neighborhood. It is the NICEST safest neighborhood I ever lived in in my life - the people are so sweet and loving and caring - to me the nicest people I ever met are living in the gayborhood.
I was considering becoming Christian again (I used to go to church when I was a little kid) But after reading the attitudes on this board by SOME religious people toward gays, it completely put me off being Christian. I love gay people and have found out they are not choosing to be gay, they just are. This board has taught me that Christians (unlike atheists, buddhists, others) have a bad attitude to gays which has completely put me off becoming a Christian again -I am sure Jesus wouldn't have wanted them to be spoken about the way people on this board do and I think it is very possible the bible got a bit messed up in translation. What happened to Jesus' love for all - did anyone else find this board made them less likely to take up going to church again?

you're confusing a couple of things . Sweet and nice doesn't necessarily mean Christian . Christians have rules of conduct to follow .the Bible is clear about "men lying with men ". They may be sweet and nice but that doesn't mean they are not sinners . Jesus gave his life to provide us with the ability to be forgiven for our sins . That doesn't mean that it's fine to continue sinning . That means if you repent you will be saved .Look what happened at Sodom and Gomorrah to a whole community of sinners . All sin is a choice . You can love all people but you should hate their sins . To me it sounds like you are uninterested in the people and in love with their sin . I have also known gay people and it's bs to say that they are all sweet and nice .

I believe that we are seeing christians at their best on here which just happens to be their worst. I find that people are more like the deepest of their nature on the computer. when they're bad, they're really bad. when they're good, they're really good. there is anonymity which protects us all. there is no reason not to be the real you.

I think what they don't want to admit when they say the computer doesn't potray people in a real fashion, is the fact that the computer shows more sides to a person. the side we often see from them are the ugly ones.

I will admit, gay people are pretty nice. But count the costs. Does being "nice" grant you eternal life? Speaking for myself, I desire eternal life with God. Some others also do (it is called Heaven). If you love someone (God) you will do what He says. If God says "I love you and have a wonderful plan for your life. Just accept me into your heart". I would love to know the Scriptural reference. Instead the Bible says: And the disciples asked Jesus "is there few that be saved? And Jesus answered "Straight is the gate and narrow is the way to eternal life and few there be that find it."

The question is: who is truly searching?

I am not Christian but I must say, don't let this motley group of malcontents influence your thinking. There are some congregations who are very nice. Anyway, this board is not representative of anything related to reality. Take care...

Samantha either you believe in God through his revelation and through knowing him or you don't. We are born with a sin nature we are in fact all born this way not simply gays. All men have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. It is the reason god came to the world in the form of man Jesus Christ to pay the penalty of sin which is death. This is the reason I believe in Jesus Christ not because of the actions of sinful men.

I am a Christian, and I am gay....

Fundamentalists fear anything that contradicts their narrow beliefs...

But, don't let fundamentalists or anyone else steal God's love from your heart.

Remember, nothing can separate you from the love of God...famine, earthquake, peril, sword.....or even the fundamentalists hateful rhetoric.

We all have to remember to look toward God...not to men, or men's religion for salvation.

Peace.

Okay. You've stated your excuse for not being Christian.
But, do you honestly believe that in order to be Christian you must hate homosexuals?

No offense, but if you don't agree with what the church teaches, then you should not go. The church does not need more hypocrites.

Jesus taught sexual purity. True, he was not as mean about it as some Christians are, but he is the one who taught that sex, in order to be holy and pleasing to God, had to be between a male and a female who were married. We didn't just make that up.

Christians love gay people too. It's their sin that is repugnant.
If you don't want to be Christian, don't be, it's your choice. Just like participating in homosexuality is a choice.
