It's hard to imagine the sick deeps of some peoples minds and souls. I totally agree there are so many better ways to handle depression. And were these women so cut off from contact with other that no one saw that she needed help or that these babies were in danger! And why is it okay for people to not be responsible for their actions!
AAAHHHH!! It makes me so mad!

You know, it is difficult to think of someone who would deliberately harm their children ... but it is more than just females that have this problem -- (and I know this from personal experience of having a sociopathic, violent, abusive ex from a short disaster of a marriage who DID abuse my children AND Was convicted of that abuse).
Now ... the real problem comes in when the last sentence was placed ... for although you can wish all you want for people who would take care of all the unwanted, abused or neglected infants and children in the world .. the REALITY is the fact that there is very little one can do to make sure that this happens ...
and ... more often than not .. these same women with the difficult times in front of them ... go to these organizations, charity groups, and everywhere else BEGGING for help .. ASKING for help .. and yes, NOT getting the ASSISTANCE That they need at the time .. turned away, with no resources, no help ... with the words of these same self-serving individuals ringing in their ears "we don't have the funds .. we do not know of any services ... nothing is available because of budget restrictions ...."
THEN .. when the parent in distress does have the problems (and some do harm their children) .. the same self-serving individuals/groups then go directly to the MEDIA and say ... "IF ONLY they ASKED for help" ... "We could have provided" ... "we are available" ...
All this is DIRECTLY OPPOSITE The experience of the parent in distress ... who has asked for help 3-4-5 or more times from these same organizations and has been TURNED AWAY that many times and more.
So before a posting like this is made ... ask this question in particular ......... HOW MUCH do organizations or charities or any private/public groups REALLY help ... or are willing to do.
THEN .. and only then ... after giving all and NOT turning around and LIEING to the Media ... can one make a loaded statement like in the last half of this posting for sure.

I personally think that anyone who would harm a child let alone kill them is insane. Perhaps Texas should look at spending the money it does on executions on ways to help mothers become educated in coping mechanisms that allow them to do a better job. If you are saying that mental illness should be punished by death, then you are being simplistic and reactionary. Why not spend your time helping other mom's in a mommy time out, parenting education, or mothers hot line?

you'd have to be pretty disturbed to kill your child and not be legally insaine, so i never get upset when these mothers are sent to institutions rather than jail
that case where the insaine woman drowned her children after her husband allowed her to be with them alone is a perfect example of how we blame the insaine instead of blaming their caretakers? what retard would leave his children alone with their mother unsupervised? the real problem is how we give these mothers help.
many mothers go through a depression stage after birth, but some, escpecially tose with a history or tendency of mental illness can loose it. they often kill their children out of mercy. some do however, kill their children as a means of hurting their spouse or "relieving" themselves from stress caused by taking care of the child.
what needs to be understood is that this is a burden for the whole community. women in these situations need spousal and family support, and especially places for them to seek help in the community. perhaps places specifically dedicated to depressed and metnally ill mothers.

Honestly, people like that shouldn't have even been allowed to be parents.
You know what I find disturbing? That girl in Kansas who was shoved in her car and kidnapped by a man when she was FIFTEEN FEET FROM THE ENTRANCE OF TARGET! Did no one think that was strange? Did anyone think of helping her? NO! Because people are so dang selfish, that girl was sexually assaulted and then killed due to no one stopping that creep. People, wake up and help your neighbors!

i dunno, divorce can do bad things. i think if my mom could, she'd beat me & my brother to death (she's going through a divorce). Instead she rages at us and badmouths us, and has disowned us (all for talking to our dad). [we're both adults, btw, on our own]
but it is ridiculous to kill a child... i think they must be insane though... they should be "fixed" so they never have kids again, and be institutionalized for life.
