Karl Marx called religion the "opiate of the masses", meaning that it was something that eased the pain of poverty. The United States does not follow that maxim and it is probably the most religious country of all the wealthy countries on Earth. It's not always reflected in our culture but if you look at polling data, most people are quite religious.

Falling by the wayside? Over 80% of americans believe in god.
Industrialized countries aren't spoiled, they're EDUCATED and grow out of childish myths.

It is harder for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle.
Still, with God all things are possible.
All nations will be humbled. It's just a matter of time.

Poor people have much less leisure time and less education... they don't have time to think about religion in a deep way, and are more likely to adopt the mythology of it more easily.
Highly industrialized countries have a population that is educated and literate, thus fewer are going to find religion credible. Rational educated people leave religion, like a child who grows up to abandon their belief in Santa.

industrialized nations have more access to education, that is why the christian religion is "falling by the wayside more and more".

cerntanly.
I'll tell you why,
because when people are rich they think: I have everything, what can God possibly offer me? And their pride blocks them from seeing the truth.
and in a poor society people are more open, and they see God's wonders.

I think the poor are prayed upon by religion, if that's what you mean. Go to your downtown and take a look at your city's "Rescue Mission" -- they'll make you pray (basically to them) for your food.

good question...there are many rich people that appreciate what they have..but for the most part society in general is geared towards self and not God....cultural marxism has taken over schools and universities, courts etc...hard to break that grip so late in the seasons and near harvest....lots of evil in the world....

Yes, I think so.
Rich people have too many distractions, and are too self satisfied.
