I am not very overweight nor do I have a eating disorder, but I did recently lose 20 lbs over 2 months by following a simple diet with little excersize.

Stay away from fast food (that was my vice). Eat more frequently, but less amount of food. This should help with your disorder and help speed up your metabolism. Always keep almonds with you, or carrots, or something not too bad for you to always pop in your mouth. Get food with "Low Sodium", "Light", "Sugar Free", etc... At first it will suck, but your taste buds will get use to it. I went to Starbucks everyday and got a Venti (largest size) Mocha, with Whip Cream. After 2 months I now have a Tall (smallest one) Soy Mocha without whip cream. I went from 490 calories to 180 calories. Watch what you eat if you can, but dont starve yourself. When you dont eat, your body will store fat because your body thinks its starving itself.

I also started running. I chose running because its cheap, I can listen to music, I can do it whenever I want for as long as I want. Join a basketball team or swim team or something that allows you to excersize, be part of a team and take your mind of eating.

Try the south beach diet.

Seriously, if you are good the first 2 weeks and stick to it completely you can loose about 10 pounds. Probably even more if you do some excercise along with it. It works fast!

It takes time to loose weight so you may not be able to do much in 2 months, but I know how you feel. It's important and you want to look good.

talk to your parents, and request help from a medical professional. You will be better off doing something supervised by a doctor at such an critical age.
Good luck

By the way, some times you out grow it, be patient.
I was overweight until I hit 16, then I got really skinny no dieting or anything.
But seriously, talk to your parents about your concerns

find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Do your best to stick to foods like salads, pastas and plenty of fruit. Walk a lot and be as active as possible. Work on your favorite sport everyday. Don't eat in between meals and drink a lot of water and ice tea... My son is also 12 and he is a good weight, but is very into exercise right now.... I think at your age - it's normal to feel like you want to look better so don't give up and stay strong.

Then keep up the excercise, stop (and I mean fully stop) eating fatty junk like chocs, sweets and fizzy drinks and force yourself to eat fruit and veg, and water instead. It seems like the worst tasting stuff in the world but it's just cos your bodies used to all that crap.

Try reading books and watching programs like gillian whatsherface's 'you are what you eat' and completely immerce yourself in healthy living and healthy eating. Try new recipes all the time, it keeps things interesting. And start doing something cool like kung fu :)

Good luck it's not easy but it's the best thing to do!!

Funny - you want to appear more healthy, yet you are at the point where you are considering unhealthy options. I would imagine you know better than making yourself vomit or crash diet. Besides - both of these options will make you appear less healthy; don't do either.

At the end of the day, it's just about more calories burned than eaten.

First - go to the doctor to determine if you have any medical conditions that would affect a diet/exercise plan. You must tell them about your eating disorder. Sometimes they will be able to prescribe a plan for you.

When given a clean bill of health, try this:

1) Exercise. Don't whine about it; just do it. You MUST walk for 30-40 minutes A DAY, 5-6 days a week at least. Outside is best - sunshine helps you feel better. Treadmill if it rains, or walk up/down your stairs. This must continue uninterrupted for no less than two weeks: that's 10 walks. Count 'em. Check 'em off on a calendar. You may not skip any. It doesn't have to be hard... in fact, if your heart races too fast, you'll end up burning muscle, not fat. Just get yourself going enough to break a light sweat. Please don't think that you're going to run a marathon on your first day... ain't gonna happen. If you like sports, play them too - but don't skip the walk.

2) Drinking (what about eating?? We'll get to that!)
Drink a large glass of water with every meal. Never skip it. Drink 3 more during the day, or whenever you feel you need it. You will not burn fat if you're dehydrated - even if you only eat celery.
Never drink pure soda (non-diet). One can has as much sugar as a candy bar.
Never drink anything that comes in a silver bag, little box or paper pouch. Exceptions: when the ingredients say ONLY 100% pure [x] (some kind of juice) - nothing that says "high fructose corn syrup." Consider that stuff poison.
Avoid an excess of diet soda.
Avoid more than 1 glass of whole milk/day, skim is best.
Avoid more than 1 glass of fruit juice/day. The vitamin C is good, but many commercial juices load themselves with sugar. Be careful!
"So what am I supposed to drink??"
Easy. Water. Then milk, then fruit juice, but mostly water.
"But I don't like water!"
Too bad. Get used to being fat then.

3) Eating
It's tough to eat well in the United States - much of our food is processed within an inch of its life. Believe me, I've tried and it can be hard.
Here are some guidelines:

1. You're smart enough to ask for help. Therefore, you're smart enough to be able to read ingredients. Remember, "high fructose corn syrup" = poison. (It's actually sugar.) I dare you to find stuff without it - even things that shouldn't have sugar, like pickles.

2. Learn to love your vegetables. Without butter, cheese, mayonnaise, dressing, oil, etc. Do you even know what broccoli tastes like without anything on it? If you don't, try it. It's actually kind of fun. You might hate it, you might love it -- but retrain your body to recognize what actual nutrients taste like. Ask your parents to buy you ONE weird fresh vegetable; like asparagus, eggplant, zucchini, escarole, endive, beets, pepper, cauliflower, etc. Iceberg lettuce is the lowest possible vegetable, but will do in a pinch. It will be less than $1. Bake it, steam it (not too long! only until tender) or eat it raw. If it makes you hurl, great! Try another one. If you can at least stand it, try it again! Don't try the canned kind - they're usually gross tasting.

I think most people hate veggies because they overcook them (or just plain ruin them), and because they expect them to taste like candy. Also veggies sometimes have an odd texture, compared with, say, pizza. Deal with it.

Oh, and just so you know: corn does NOT count as a veggie for weight loss purposes. Neither do potatoes, rice or beans. Sucks, doesn't it? Corn is a grain, like wheat, and potatoes are loaded with starch which will work against you.

OK, so here's what to do. You're going to eat small, 6 times/day, EXACTLY every three hours. No skipping or missing. You won't eat anything that's larger than your fist, generally speaking.

A) Breakfast as soon as you get up. Water.
This is your largest meal of the day... make it count.

2 slices whole wheat bread (READ INGREDIENTS)
1 tbsp light cream cheese
2.5 egg whites or those fake egg things. Avoid yolks.
1 cup milk
1 piece fruit (small), or 1/2 cup non-red berries.

Go for your walk.

B) Snack1 -
8 pretzels OR 8 almonds
Water

C) Lunch - Water
2 slices whole wheat bread
2 cups veggies (green and/or leafy) This is what fills you up. Don't be shy here.
1 piece fruit
2 oz lean meat (this isn't much - about half the size of a deck of cards) OR 2 oz fat free cheese OR 2 egg whites

D) Snack -
8 pretzels OR 8 almonds OR 8 animal crackers
Water

E) Dinner - Water
4 oz lean protein (again, not much; almost the size of a deck of cards) OR egg whites OR cottage cheese
2-3 cups vegetables
1 tsp butter OR peanut butter OR cream cheese OR oil (olive is best, but kinda expensive)
No bread. No potatoes. No sugar/dessert.

F) Snack - (Only if you're DYING of hunger)
8 pretzels OR 8 almonds

You will be pretty hungry at night for about three days; don't give in! This will subside as you get used to the system.

WARNING: I'm not there to monitor your BMI (Body Mass Index), calorie counts or blood sugar levels, so these guidelines are meant as SUGGESTIONS only. You should have real supervision by a professional if you're going to do something like this, especially if you're only 12.

Finally - your eating disorder? I wonder what kind of disorder makes you 'go back to eat'? That isn't anorexia or bulemia (if you're not making yourself throw up). There is such a thing as "food addiction," but that's more of a psychological phenomenon than a disorder in the classical sense. I would venture a guess that you're going back to eat because you're lonely, depressed or bored - not because you have a disorder. But again, I can't diagnose if I'm not there. The good news is that lonely, depressed and bored can be changed quite radically and quickly by the above plan, ESPECIALLY the exercise.

Bottom line - don't go back to eat.

Two months isn't enough time to turn into a supermodel from a couch potato, but it's enough for a pretty noticeable change. Make a deal with yourself to change for health purposes only, not vanity. You'll be happier.

Sorry this is so long, but I was a fat kid too, and it's taken me years to come to grips with. I wish someone would have told me these things when I was your age.

Set yourself up for success - be strong.
(...and go to the doctor.)

Good luck!
