she is a parakeet, and she is biting a little more and she always seems like she's fussing at my other bird, and lately she has been chewing on paper.

she is probably moulting...there is a special tonic you can buy at the pet store that you add to her water, to help her through this...kinda like when a female has her period...your bird may loose some feathers...best thing to do, is leave her alone, cover her cage so she can rest..It last about a week to 10 days...good luck...
and watch out for those fingers....

She's hormonal. Shredding paper means she's making a nest. Biting means she's becoming territorial. She's probably getting ready to try and lay eggs, which I highly recommend you discourage because there's something in your environment that is telling her to breed when she doesn't have to - and it's dangerous for any bird to lay eggs because they could become egg bound (especially young or malnourished - all seed diet - birds) and die, or be a poor parent and lose the chicks if the eggs are even fertile/not care for the eggs and it drains her little body of so many nutrients she needs for herself.

Please decrease her mating triggers by reducing daylight by having her cage covered up for at least 12 hours at night; monitoring her food intake so you offer her only what she can eat until you clean her food again; remove nesting areas like nooks and crannies in the cage; keep a barrier like a grate between her and the paper so she can't reach it; don't pet her anywhere but the head as it stimulates her the way a mate would; and give her a change of environment by rotating new toys in and out of the cage every week, and maybe even moving the cage to a new area.

Depends on your parakeets. She may be wanting to mate and if the other parakeet is the same sex or they are not bonded, then she could be frustrated.

could it be ill?
I had two parrots, male and female and my male parrot was sleeping a lot and i could not understand why. Meanwhile the female was flying hysterically every time I would go to the living room and goes and stands next to the male.
It turned out that she was trying to warn me that he was sick.
I took him to the vet but by the time i got there it was too late.
the female went on a hunger strike until she too died. It was a sad story.

depends on what type of bird it is. if its a chicken the its either ill or going broody. if its a budgie then it wants to lay an egg.
