Not if you don't have one already. As a matter of fact, close contact with an allergen gradually stops the allergy, which means that if you do have an allergy it will diminish if you are in close contact with the dog, not the opposite. So don't worry about allergies, but do keep the dog very clean, because you can get fleas, funghi and other germs he collects from the streets.

You can develop allergies over time. It is best not to let your dog sleep in your bed. He is a dog not a person and should be treated like a dog. If you let him sleep in your bed then he will think he is equal to you and you should always be the dominant one in the relationship.

It won't cause an allergy, but if you are predisposed to having pet allergies, keeping a dog or cat off your bed (& out of your bedroom) would be in your best interest to keep the allergy from being worse. That's because you spend 7,8 hrs or so asleep and that is a long time to be exposed to an allergen, a lot of times a pet allergy can be managed by: shampooing the pet regularly, like once every week or two;vacuuming upholstery & carpets frequently; taking antihistamines; if you handle the pet, keep your hands away from your eyes & nose & wash your hands w/soap & water afterward; and using sprays like the new Febreze allergen spray or similar sprays available at petstores to contol dander on sofas, carpets, etc; and by keeping your pet out of the bedroom or off areas where you sleep (like a pillow or throw on your sofa).

If you have never had dog-related allergies before, it is highly unlikely that you would develop them now. Go ahead and let your dog sleep with you. Change the bedding regularly, keep the dog clean and free of parasites and you should both be fine.

Yes. You can get different kind of allergies as you get older. Your body re acts to things differently.
"Pet allergens from warm-blooded animals can cause problems for kids and parents alike. When the animal — often a household pet — licks itself, the saliva gets on its fur or feathers. As the saliva dries, protein particles become airborne and work their way into fabrics in the home. Cats are the worst offenders because the protein from their saliva is extremely tiny and they tend to lick themselves more than other animals as part of grooming."
I grew up not having any allergies, now I will get the sniffles if I go around certain things.

It's possible that you could be allergic to something they picked up on their fur...like pollen or dust from the floor. People CAN develop allergies to things, but generally over an extended period of time.

Yes I do ,but she already has the idea it's her bed too. She's spoiled rotten. If you can keep her/him off your pillow your better off. My allergies are breathing allergies.

its not going to give you allergies just because you let it sleep with you, if that were the case everyone who let their dogs sleep with them would be allergic.
