Let me get this straight. You're arguing that Christians are not as devout merely because they don't have a legal theory? Somehow a law code makes you more devout? That's a pretty weak argument for two reasons. One reason is that a law code doesn't mean a thing, it is a person's individual ability and desire to follow that law. Another reason is that Christians DO have a version of Sharia Law. It's basically what the Bible and all the theological writings of Christian history are all about: the rules and regulations of being a Christian. The funny thing, though, is that despite having Sharia Law, Muslims still cannot agree on all aspects of what is right and what is wrong. That puts them pretty much on an even keel with Christians. So what's the difference? You're going to have to do better than this to put your beliefs on the pedestal over others. Here's a better idea: accept that some people are different than you and be a good person to those around you. Then you'll be following both, the Sharia Law AND the Bible.

Christians don't have Sharia law, because Christ came to free believers from the shackles of Religious law.
Before Christ, the only way a person could go to heaven was by following a long list of laws, and since nobody could ever perfectly follow the laws, they could sacrifice an animal in their place.

Christ overwhelming message was "Love others as you love yourself," and, "No man may come to the Father, but through the son."
He taught us the ulitmate lesson, which is that you don't have to follow religious laws to be saved, all you have to do, is believe in him and the power of redemptive grace.

Devout christians are more serious about their faith, and many have died for that faith. Keep in mind, that nowhere in the new testament, does God or Jesus say, "The only way to get to heaven is to wear a burqa and cut the heads off of your enemy."

Most Christians are more tolerant that Muslims, and have even died to save the believers of one religion from another. At no point does a Christian say, "You will believe in God or I will kill you." And at no point does a Christian walk into a crowd of innocent people and blow them up.

Most Christians especially American Christians have almost ablsolutely no commitment to God. Most of them just say they love God and then go live for themselves instead of following his commandments. Jesus told us to go and preach to all nations baptising in the name of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit (all three are God just with different names, the trinity) Jesus also told us to love God and love others. Most people in America say they are Christians but very few actually live it. I am happy to say that I am at least trying to live out these commandments but no one is perfect (except Jesus) so there will be times where we fail.

You cant classify all Christians by what you see in America. Like I said before most American Christians have no commitment or even reverance toward and for God. There are people in other countries that do the same thing but the majority of the Christians outside the US actually live for God and will not let anything get in the way of that. Take the Chinese Christians for example, Christian meetings are illegal over there and Christians are being killed and tortured just for saying Jesus is Lord. I would say that The majority of Christians outside the US are more devout than Muslims just because I have met many muslims while I was out of the US and all of them have said that they would probably convert if someone would teach them about Jesus.

All that Jesus wants is for us (Christians) to love him and others enough to preach Jesus to the world, its not hard and it is effective. All we have to do is show up and talk and God will do the rest.

Because the Europeans already tried to force their religious views on each other in the Middle Ages. Protestants and Catholics fought for centuries about what is the correct way to interpret Gods laws. After all the killing and bloodshed people finally decided to focus on more "earthly" things and let individuals decide for themselves which is the correct path to enlightenment.
How do you know what God's will is?
Sharia Law is not created by God it is created by man, so how can one assert that it is the only correct way to govern?

Christians don't have a big set of do's and don'ts. Their law, as given by Christ, is summed up into two things only:

1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind.

2. Love your neighbor as yourself.

Jesus says that all the commandments and the law are summed up into those two things. It was simple, yet eloquent.

Christians also believe that no one except Jesus is capable of following this all the time. But Christians also believe that through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are redeemed from our failure to follow those laws. We, as Christians, strive to keep that law, not out of fear of punishment, but in response to Christ's love for us.

I think that's the biggest difference between Christianity and many other religions. Other religions teach that one must do certain things and accomplish certain tasks before gaining paradise. Christians believe that this was given to them as a gift from a loving, merciful God who unconditionally loves and respects us.

i think this is such an interesting question!

we do have the law, handed down by Moses. God knew that we could not keep the law in our fallen human nature but He made a way.
He is holy and cannot go against His own law. So sin (going against God's law) IS punishable by death.

He sent His Son to take our punishment in our place so that, whoever accepts that payment, could be put right with God.

and we can tell who has accepted the payment by their transformed lives of gratitude and striving to draw closer to the One who paid their debts.

if you call yourself a Christian you must walk your talk or you are a liar.

Sharia law is repressive, and forces the beliefs of one faith on everyone--including those who aren't Muslim. Modern Western culture generally frowns on culling womens' rights and on enforcing one religion over all others.

You can be as devout as you want without having to make everyone else believe what you believe. Besides--I'm quite sure that God is powerful enough to ensure his own honor without people running around on Earth doing it for him.

I like to think it's supposed to come with more freedom. Jesus preached against legalism and called for loving God and loving others. Read the first chapter of "A Scandalous Freedom" by Brown next time you're in a bookstore. It deals with this.

Sharia law is only for the people who are willing to follow a false prophet. They can change things around to keep their people on line.

That would never happen in Christianity when followed by Jesus' footsteps.

I don't know what Sharia law is. Christians follow Jesus Christ and His example. Simple.
