I'm Vegan. I go to church every Saturday. However, as a Christian, the Lord's Day is Sunday. I go then too.

Dear Miss Catherine, there are those who believe the factory farm industry perpetuates hate. Racism, sexism, poverty, violence.

Read this article carefully:

Then think about this: The average person eats 100 pounds of meat a year and consumes 500 pounds of dairy a year.

Which is doing more damage? There are 10 cows tortured daily for each person who uses dairy products. Jesus would never approve of this kind of expoitation.

One of the things I learned from reading the Bible is what God thinks about this . When asked about this He said I gave you this for food why would you ask . Yes folks God gave us meat to eat . That is probably one of the reasons animals were created . In the old testament the priests who were chosen to go inside the ark to talk to God had a very specific regimen to follow .To disobey this regimen meant instant death if they touched the ark even . These rules were not given to the rest of us . They included animal sacrifices ,eating or not eating certain types of meat , not having sex within a given time period of entering and bathing before entering . If the Bible is read correctly from beginning to end , these things are very clear . But when you skip around and take things out of context you really haven't a clue as to what He is referring to . Would you even attempt to read any other book that way ? Of course not , it wouldn't make sense . Jesus does not say not to eat meat on the sabbath . If he taught that then yes I would give up meat entirely for Him .

I do keep the Saturday Sabbath. Although I do eat meat I am weaning myself off of it. Adam and Eve were vegans. In fact their diet consisted completely of fruit, nuts, seeds and grains only. Not even veggies. Course you probably already know that.

Jesus did teach that we keep the sabbath holy. He did not say that we should not eat meat. At the last supper, he taught us to eat the bread and drink the wine in remembrance of him.

To honor Jesus and his memory........hmmmm.........that is a tough one. Since Jesus was only a historical person, at best, there is no reason to honor him or his memory. If he did live, then he was a good teacher, but then so were so many other Greek philosophers, etc, and we do not honor them or their memory. And if you look at Christianity, it certainly does not honor what he taught or anything like that, they have included only the parts that would help them out and excluded other parts that point to Jesus only being human and nothing more.

I try and follow everything Jesus says, but he does not say that we should abstain from meat, and he does not command us to observe the Sabbath on Saturday. Christians observe the Sabbath on Sunday in celebration of his vanquishing death.

1) It's "Vegan"

2) I do not consider dairy products "meat".

3) I already don't eat meat more than 2 - 3 times per week so I probably wouldn't have a hard time quitting.

Jesus didn't say we coun't eat meat. If I choose to fast and I choose to not eat meat then I willn't. But I might choose to give up soda for a week or maybe all TV.

It would probably be easier than you think for some Christians, because some of us have been raised this way, so our parents would have been vegetarians and would have attended church on Saturday, and that would have been incorporated into our lives.
