My wife and I bought a great dane that was supposed to be ckc registered. The breeder skipped town without giving us the papers. I am so happy that we took the dog when we did because they were horrible people. He is in great health now, 63lbs. at 17 weeks. We brought him home at 2 weeks and bottle fed him for 4 weeks. The little bit of info that I got from the so-called breeder was the ckc #'s of the mom and dad. If anyone knows how to see if these numbers are valid please help? Tank really appreciates it.

Kennel Club Registration Number Check

2016-12-30 15:02:43 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

If you're talking about the Continental Kennel Club, it's a scam registry used by puppymillers so they can claim their dogs have "papers". It's worthless. If you mean the Canadian Kennel Club, that is legit, and you may be able to get the puppy registered if you have both parents registrations numbers, the date of birth and if the breeder has registered the LITTER. Otherwise, not.
Think about what kind of breeder would let a puppy go to a pet home at two weeks old. Disgraceful. Next time, please only support responsible breeders.
Here are some suggested questions one can use to determine if a breeder is truly responsible:

1. Is she an AKC registered breeder of good standing and an active member of her breed Parent Club?

2. Are there AKC Champions listed on the pedigree, showing that the breeder spends her time & money to prove the quality of her breeding stock through competition?

3. Are all the animals kept in clean, comfortable, healthy, loving circumstances?

4. Did the breeder conduct extensive interviews with you and every member of your family?

5. Have the sire & dam received all available health clearances, (eg. OFA Hip & Eye, Thyroid testing, THESE VARY FOR EACH BREED)

6. Is she willing to honestly discuss any possible genetic defects that may exist in her line?

7. Does she have a Sales Contract?

8. Does the contract contain a clause stipulating that you spay or neuter the puppy before it reaches a certain
age?

9. Does the contract contain a clause stating that if at any time in the puppy's life, you can no longer care for it, it must be returned to the breeder? (This ensures that no animal bred by this breeder will ever end up in a shelter).

10. Will the breeder maintain contact with you for the life of the puppy to answer questions and help in general?

Get a No Cost Background Check Scan at https://tinyurl.im/aH3SN

Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment.

You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.

Wow some of you have a real vendetta against the continental and canine CKC. Get off your dang soapbox for cryin' out loud. Any of heard of a goldendoodle? Or are you too "pure bred" to consider that a real dog? They are smart, sweet-natured and hypoallergenic. We wouldn't be able to have a dog if it weren't for this breed. Yes there are other breeds that are mostly hypoallergenic but they don't have the personality characteristics goldendoodles to.

Now you can thin out the breed too much or make it too poodle- or golden retreiver-rich and not have the same hypoallergenic level. If not for a kennel club that keeps track of this stuff it would be impossible for buyers to ensure they are getting the right mix.

K do you honestly do all ten things all the time? I doubt it. Seems to me like you are using this thread to advertise yourself. You so vehemently and absolutely slammed my breeder (albeit indirectly) with your "rhetoric" that you appear fanatical and unreasonable. Too bad for you.

A little note for "K." I am a responsible breeder (AKC), no really I do rescue and everything and buy my puppies back should they ever be unwanted (a better deal than any pound) but these folks took in what would have been a pound puppy or worse so while I appreciate your soapbox rhetoric I think they should be praised for what they did and for all of the care they have given this dog. Most probably they will never get anything beyond perhaps an ILP number but I hope that is of little consequence and they will be rewarded by a lifetime of friendship..

If the registration is the Canadian Kennel Club then you can contact them and they can tell you..however if the CKC you are refering ot is Continental Kennel Club or Canine Kennel Club then don't bother because they are not legit to begin with.
The Continental Kennel Club and the Canine Kennel Club are both scam registries, worthless..BYB/Mill/ irresponsible breeder registries.

Is the club you are referring to CKC Canadian Kennel Club or Canine Kennel Club? Canadian Kennel Club is a legitimate registry. Canine Kennel Club is a bogus kennel club used by puppy mills. If it is Canadian, contact them with the info you have and see what they can do. If it is the Canine CKC, don't bother. It is not worth anything.
