To be honest, these days I just use the cash machines over there. I can't be bothered waiting in hot post offices and banks, brandishing your passport and getting scrutinised every time you want a bit of your cash.

It's cheaper to get your money there.
It's never cheaper to use travelers checks, that is very old school. You get killed on the exchange rate when cashing them, same goes for taking Pound sterling and exchanging it. The exchange booths or hotel or store will take about 10% of your money when converting. That is robbery and it's amazing that people still do it.
The best way is to use your bank ATM card there to get cash. You only pay a very small fee and they give you the correct exchange rate. There is no cheaper way to get local cash.

Its not whether its cheaper or not so much as which is more secure. take a bit of both travellers and euros that way you can change up the travellers cheques when you need to and you will be covered if anything untoward should happen ie theft.

There are pretty much no places on earth anymore that don´t have ATM´s. I find since you can report it stolen and any charges returned that using your ATM card is easier as you get the countries currency with the current exchange rate, it is easy and you don´t have to travel with a wad of bills etc. Plus exchanging in a Hotel is always a rip off so you don´t have to look for a currency exchange.
Best Regards.

take traverlers chx for safety, small amounts so the bars can change them.
eurs are the way forward, just to save having to find somewhere to change them when your away from the hotel..it also eliminates taking your passport everywhere.
have a great time. the BCM is kicking!!

The least expensive thing is to use your credit card. After that your debit card works great. The machines are ubiquitous, and you don't get any more cash than you need.
