I really love a red couch. If you put avocado green with it, and some beiges to tone it down, get some striped fabric for throw pillows or valances, it would look great. Maybe a geometric area rug in greens and reds and cream. So what if it is Christmasy? I love Christmas, too.
Don't be afraid of color, and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Pint and fabric are cheap.
Turquoise is cool, too.

chocolate brown is a great choice! i would not go with red, a little too christmas-y for my taste. also, depending on the shade of green you could try something like a pale blue for the couch. i found it really helpful to go to the paint store, pick a paint that matches your furniture, and use the color wheel to see what is complementary to that color. then thats the color slipcover to buy. staying in the same color family is important, and by doing that you can mix stripes and florals, solids and prints, etc.

depends on what kind of look you want...you could do the chocolate brown and accent with yellows, oranges, and reds in the throw pillows and nick nacks. the red would work too but the cost of a good slip cover isn't cheap and if you ever wanted to change the style and color of the room, red is a very bold color and with the brown you would still have a nuetral slip cover.

I would think chocolate brown would go better with avacado green but that's my opinion. If you want to go with the red maybe you could find some throw pillows with red & green in them.

Both are great I would take the colors and hold them against the chair to see which one looks the best. I love the colors and every which one you don't use splash the other color in the room some where I am sure it will look GREAT

apple red couch and green chairs sounds too Christmas-ee for me. Chocolate brown would be nice. You could try a beige micro-fiber/suede too, that might look nice.

Not red - doesn't seem to work with avacado.
Chocolate would match, but make sure it isn't too dark.
Add light walls [ ivory, white, peach, yellow, or aqua ], and a bit of orange, gold, or turquoise in the rug/curtains/pillows/lamps/pictures, etc.

I would beg of you not to go with red. Everything would look like Christmas all year 'round....however, I think chocolate brown is a great idea.

If you want to continue with the 70's theme, why not Canary Yellow? or red or brown. They all sound good to me. Of course I can't match a shirt with a pair of jeans.

In the 70's the avacodo was coupled with a deep gold, bright orange and a dark brown.
Just a thought.
