Do normal people do online dating? It seems like only desperate and insecure ones will have a reason to do online dating. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Normal people do too. It is just another way to meet people, especially if you are older and don't get out too often.

i used online dating before.... in fact i met my fiance online...some of us just dont like the bar thing plus do you really wanna date someone who was drunk and all over 16 people the first night you met? probably not.. some people also have very busy lives and online dating is an easy way to meet people and be able to say hey yeah he looks like a good match or oh hellz no delete lol i think alot of normal people use it .. im normal and i did

Depends on the person and what they are doing... one of my friends agree with you a 100% but she thinks it's OK to walk down 2nd street in Philly when all the bars are letting out and pick up drunk men on the street. She picks up about 3-5 guys a pop and redoes it as soon as none of them work out so about twice a month.
I think Internet dating would be safer and less desperate but she doesn't agree.

i'd like to think i'm normal and that my boyfriend of two years (who i met on yahoo personals) is normal...
i know we each used it because we're not the type of people to meet someone at a bar. and i don't think that made either of us desperate. i have friends who are getting married that met on match.com.
i'd like to think that as opposed to being desperate, that there are those of us looking for an alternative to how people would otherwise meet.
and i'm VERY glad i tried it.

i met my husband online and we each have friends who have met their spouses online. online dating has its pitfalls but no more than trying to go out and meet somebody in a bar or club. some people just feel it is safer and more convient to get to know somebody online and it has nothing to do with desperation or insecurities.

honestly NOBODY IS NORMAL!! we all have our Lil unormal things.. but in my point of view i dont think dating online is a good idea .. i mean Y??? u dont even knoe the person ur dating.. and it will be hard to keep a relationship without seeing each other dont u think?? well good luck .. and go partying so u find somebody that lives close to u!! =] lol

And those that are overly cautious ( like me) about who they are going to meet offline, will do an online search about that person and their background. ( sorry I need to know if you are a convicted felon or not).
