When I leave my hair to air dry, it goes frizzy. When I blow dry it, it goes frizzy. When I straighten it, it goes frizzy. (You getting the idea yet??) My hair is shoulder length, quite thick and wavy-ish. I've tried many different products and methods but never manage to get non frizzy hair. Any ideas/products you could recommend? (UK). Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas please!

First off, look for Knotty Boy products.

http://www.knottyboy.com/

Knotty Boy is for dread locks. I had dreads for a short time. I found Knotty Boy was JUST the ticket for my semi-curly hair. I look GREAT!

It's a very gentle soap. Most shampoos are more harsh than floor cleaner. Which over cleans the hair and makes it stick up. Knotty Boy's basic dread bar or any of their all-purpose body-bar/shampoos work wonders! They're so gentle you can use them every day without drying.

Stop using heavy conditioners. Many folks with frizz troubles over condition the hair in an attempt to weigh it down. Or calm it. All this does is make it porous which results in more frizz. Not to mention most heavy conditioners cause hair loss.

Knotty Boy's very light spray conditioner works GREAT! It's also great to "freshen" your curl throughout the day. Get a little travel spray-bottle.

If you can't find Knotty Boy look for natural shampoos. Anything without Sodum Laurel Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate.

Avoid "serums" like the plague! They are nothing but polymers which dry the hair out forcing you to use more and more product.

Avoid Parabens, PVPs and ANYTHING with petroleum in it. Which includes most pomades. Avoid gels and mousses which are loaded in alcohol and dry your hair out.

Max Green Alchemy make excellent non-stripping shampoo and non-clogging conditioner. As does Desert Essence.

Hi,
My hair sounds like it would quite similar to yours, I use L’Oreal products – moussing curls and invisi gel (the strongest) and a wee bit of Frizz Ease hair serum, I apply it wet hair, scrunch up into my hands and wrap the towel around it for as long as possible. After that I scrunch dry with the diffuser. If blow-drying straight I just use more serum and finish off with Frizz Ease Secret Agent finishing cream. Hope it works for you.

I use a product called Citre Shine. It doesn't make it as frizz free as I would like but it gets it the most of any other product I've tried. It comes in a spray and a gel.

Frizz-ease works pretty well.
You could also try Aussie leave-in conditioner (that works for me sometimes).
It mind sound strange but sometimes I just run a small bit of gel through it before combing it dry, this works too (NOT wet look gel though).

you have same trouble as me... and i hate using stuff on it.. one thing i do is wash it the day before am going anywhere important gives it time to settle down. other than that just loads of conditioner for frizzy hair and occasionally some smoothin gel - but very little rubbed on palms and smooth over

Try mixing hair gel with an anti-frizz hair lotion and rubbing it into your hair after every wash. Wash daily!
