This is a great question, a question that I often ask when thinking of hypotheticals or situationals. Between arms and legs, I would have to choose my legs. The technology for artificial legs seems to be more advanced then that of artificial hands. I think that people do much more with their hands than with their legs. If you lost your hands then you wouldn't be able to type, write, play an instrument, or yahoo! answer! Take my legs, I'm looking forward to getting spinners for my wheelchair.

I would chose my right foot/ankle. I had a ankle fusion last July. I better understand the discomfort that goes along with this type of surgery. I am not 100% pain free but it is tolerable. My next step would be a complete ankle fusion again or a artificial ankle/joint in my right foot/ankle. If that is not possible, I would face the outcome of the loss of my right foot/ankle. In my case it would not be a sudden knowledge of loosing a limb but a gradual process through
the years of knowing what might could be.

I'd have to choose a leg. I do too much typing and other things with my hands. There are good artificial legs out there now, and I don't think I'd be that handicapped with one of those vs. losing an arm.
