Until someone acquires self-knowledge through reflection and prayer/meditation, pride is the dominant force in a person's motivations.
Self-knowledge is the harbinger of humility, and true humility eradicates pride.
Ego and pride kind of go together, but realize that the goal is to accept the ego as a piece of our human composition. The key is to not let it dominate your heart, because to let your ego dominate your heart is to be prideful.

The more pride you have in yourself and what you do will show how much your heart has to give. If you are proud of what you are and who you have become it will help you see people in a different light. You may be able to look past a persons down side that may be small and see the greater person. People who don't have pride in themselves tend to look at people differently and judge based on something they don't like about how they are. I truly believe that when someone has pride they have big hearts. They see good in people and want to help those in need. I hope you have a lot of pride in yourself and a bigger heart to show it.

I wonder if 'pride" when properly defined is bad.
If you build a beautiful piece of furniture or paint a beautiful landscape, why shouldn't you have pride in what you have created. You are using the gifts God gave you.
"Pride" among other definitions is defined as:
A sense of one's own proper dignity or value; self-respect.
Pleasure or satisfaction taken in an achievement, possession, or association: parental pride.
"Hubris" is, however, another thing. Hubris is defined as: Overbearing pride or presumption; arrogance. Hubris can control you and all that you do. If you are religious then hubris is a sin.
So it depends if you have pride or suffer from hubris

Depends on what kind of "pride". If it is a grasping and self-cherishment issue then it's obvious what the motives are, but if it's to support a group in light of oppression... then the perceptions of "motive" is vastly different.

sometimes a person's pride will get in the way of how they truely feel and make them do things that they know aren't right and things they regret. sometimes a person's pride will block everything else in their heart and make them like a wall

Pride. Who needs it? Adopt a learning mode in all things. Do and learn. Learning requires the humility to admit that we don't know. Humility is the first intellectual trait required for critical thinking.

According to the bible pride comes before a fall. The bible also tells us that the heart of man before accepting Christ is WICKED. But If a person accept Christ he comes and changes there heart by living in them. Apart from Christ the heart is doomed for hell. 1 John verse 16 for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son Jesus that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Thats how you become saved , God desires a real relationship with you. Dont try to change accept Christ and he will help you change, he knows your heart better that you know yourself.
