You mean my favorite? I'm an avid comedy fan and also run a weekly comedy radio show, so this won't be a short answer. But I'd have to say...
George Carlin is still at the top of my list. I have every album of his and have been an avid listener for almost 20 years.
The rest of my top 10 might be:
- Groucho Marx
- David Cross
- Eddie Izzard (who could kick any other comedian's *** at Jeopardy)
- Tom Lehrer (musician, mathematician, atheist...what's not to like?)
- Redd Foxx (who begat Pryor who begat Murphy who begat countless others)
- Bob Newhart (great stand-up work in the 60s)
- Lewis Black (the only political comedian I find funny)
- Bill Hicks
- Denis Leary (and I don't buy the conspiracy theory that he stole his act from Hicks).
My favorite "current" comedians are definitely Doug Stanhope, Sarah Silverman and Maria Bamford (the last two being some of the very, very few female comedians who aren't hacks. I have NO tolerance for hack comedians. I hate Dane Cook.)
Interestingly enough, all of these comedians have had a thing or two to say about religion, to say the least. I'd say comedy has always been in the Devil's domain. It's the antithesis of piousness and fits the archetype nicely. And I wouldn't have it any other way! I do emphasize the blasphemy on my show.

I have a lot of favorite comedians....but I really like Sarah Silverman. She is so cute that you just don't expect the kind of stuff she says to actually come out of her mouth.

Robin Williams, Bill Cosby, Wayne Brady, Steve Martin, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Whoopie Goldberg...and yes, Jeff Foxworthy are all great too - as long as they keep it clean!

Bill Hicks (may he rest in peace).
EDITED TO ADD:
I forgot, I love Vicki Vivrette (Susan Norfleet's alter ego), too. You may remember her, she sang the country song, "I Love Your Private Parts".
