if i do zumba and spinning classes, can i effictivly lose weight mainly on the stomach. I have a plump stomach and it was flat til i had my son, 16 months ago. I never had to work out a day in my life so i have no idea if this will work. My brother gave me a gym membership for christmas and they have these classes there.

Unfortunately you're not able to spot-reduce areas. However, if you do the classes and they're intense enough to burn fat, your body will take the fat from where it can. If you have excess fat in your stomach, it should burn off.

Losing baby weight is one thing....getting all your skin to go back to it's original place is another entirely. Unfortunately, women who have had a flat, toned stomach all their lives and then have a baby, can have a lot of trouble getting their stomach skin to go back to being flat. For women who have fluctuated in their weight all their life (give or take 15-20 lbs) their skin is a bit more used to stretching and going back.

That's not to say you can't do it. It can be done. But it takes a lot of work. I have a friend who has lost all her baby weight and then some, but her skin on her stomach is still really loose. She plans on having a tummy tuck to get rid of the extra skin.

Good luck.

find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
