It is, in a way. None of us would be here without it. It brings people together, is cause for celebration and can be one of many expressions of intimacy and devotion.
And besides, it feels great, burns calories and a is pretty darned good way to pass the weekend.

no at the core it's survival of the species. Sex is only part of it.
Insuring a safe environment for any offspring:
Easy access to healthy food and clean water
Minimal predators in the area and safe shelter for the very young
Not producing more offspring than the area can support
Having both parents around to teach and protect the young
FOOD SHELTER EDUCATION AND SAFETY.

You could say, if life has any meaning, then it is reproducing for survival of the species. So, yes, sex is the heart of the meaning of life.

No what happens when you get to old to have sex?
Jesus is our life for him we live and for him we die. Rather we accept him or not the price was payed when he died for the world on the cross. But he is alive and our life belongs to him. John 3 verse 16 for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life

No . Our meaning and purpose in life is to put God above all others and be the best person you can be. He gave us sex for when we marry to be beautiful. God less you.
