Chocolate has caffeine. Dogs cant handle caffiene as it can make their heart race. Actually dark choloate is even worse due to its levels. A dog can have carob (without sugar) which is used by the dog bakeries. Chocolate can be deadly.

A little bit won't hurt, especially if it's milk chocolate--not enough caffeine or theobromine in it, to harm.
Keep the good stuff (dark chocolate) away from the dogs, though.
